As fans of the Mom TV series know all too well, the long-running CBS sitcom was cancelled in March so, there won’t be a ninth season. Fortunately, there was still time for the cast and crew to give the characters some closure. The last episode airs tonight — number 170 — and the stars and some of the show’s guests have shared their memories and some thoughts on what the comedy has meant to them.
The Mom TV series stars Allison Janney, Mimi Kennedy, Jaime Pressly, Beth Hall, William Fichtner, and Kristen Johnston. Recovering addict Bonnie (Janney) must learn to adjust to life without her daughter and former roommate, Christy (Anna Faris), around. With a chaotic past behind her and a newly empty nest, Bonnie focuses on her marriage to her husband, Adam (Fichtner), and on what she wants to be now that she’s finally grown up. Now more than ever, Bonnie depends on the support of her friends, including wise Marjorie (Kennedy), wealthy and sometimes misguided Jill (Pressly), overly emotional Wendy (Hall), and her foster sister, Tammy (Johnston), who was recently released from prison. Through it all, these women help each other overcome their mistakes and stay sober in the face of whatever life throws their way.

I’m so proud of @MomCBS
This show is about something the universe really wants out there, that you can stop being afraid of life and you can just live it. #momseriesfinale #MomFinale pic.twitter.com/0rpG3j4akN— Mimi Kennedy (@MimiKennedyLA) May 12, 2021

One of the best things about doing MOM was getting to meet @KChenoweth! She's as nice and positive as she seems. Thank you for the kind words about your experience. #seriesfinale https://t.co/uv3oQGYpge

What do you think? Did you enjoy the CBS series finale? Are you sorry to see the Mom TV show end?
This definitely felt like a season finale, not a series finale. There were new story lines left open with the cancer diagnosis, a wedding and pregnancy plus introduction of new characters! That was just not satisfying and I’m going to miss this series. I wonder if they were leaving an opening to be picked up by another channel?
I watched this show but it was not among my favorites.
I just thought it was the season finale. I didn’t know it was the final finale. I’ve watched this show from day one and will miss it tremendously.
I can not believe CBS did such a DISSAPOINTING FINALE!! It felt like a regular episode…. 30 minutes? I think the fans and cast deserved a more thoughtful ending. It felt rushed and where is the closure?? They could have done some flashbacks and at least tried to have some kind of closure!! You would think that such an inspiring show about hope and growth would have ended with with more “hope ” and thoughtfulness!! I enjoyed the show so much! But I have never seen such a horrible series finally .. Way to go CBS !!
This was my favorite show, shouldn’t have been cancelled.I didn’t like the ending felt like it was rushed to end, could have gone on for more years to come.
Mom was one of my most favorite shows and I still can’t believe it was cancelled. What is wrong with this network!!!
Was an excellent show. It showed life the ups and owns with a funny side sometimes a tragic side. At least it showed the REAL side, not some of the other shows B Positive (dumb), the conners etc. CBS your going to shoot yourself in the foot.
I won’t be watching anything cbs puts on that’s new again, they don’t care at all about the viewers, now what crap will they fill this spot with, some kind of lying news show
Best show ever! So sad it ended…especially with so many open story lines. Looking forward to the next Chuck Lorree sit com.
Hmmm…I was left wanting more out of tonight’s series finale. It felt rushed to me – a little more like a season finale with the continuation to follow in September instead. After 8 seasons and all those powerful moments it deserved an hour-long final episode. Dang, I wish this could move to another network for 2 additional seasons. I guess I won’t be watching CBS on Thursday nights anymore. Don’t care for Young Sheldon, B Positive is meh and United States of Al I haven’t seen yet, just clips, but I’ll give it a shot.
CBS made a huge faux pas canceling such a great show. “Mom” was one of the few U.S. shows that did not talk down to its viewers with its hilariously funny and sometimes emotional script. The actors fit each part like a hand in glove. Hopefully some more foresighted and intelligent channel (Netflix maybe?) will pick up this fabulous show so that “Mom” can continue its incredible journey. In the meantime, I guess I’ll switch back to British television (“Still Game” is the only sitcom better than “Mom”). Who are the idiots at CBS who decided to cancel this show… Read more »
I have loved this show from the very first season to the last, I have laughed til I cried, I’m going to miss the whole gang. I can’t believe it’s going off the air, still waiting for more. It needs another 8 years
The finale was a perfect blend of comedy and heartfelt emotion. I wish this show had not been cancelled.
I’m So incredibly sad. My Fav is gone! 🙁
Such a great show. Why start so many new beginnings and stories to end it all in a quick 30 min episode. I’m so sad it’s ending.
