TV show description:
This medical drama follows the staff of Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon as they push their abilities and confront their personal and professional failings.
Doctors face life-and-death decisions every day as they fight against often-impossible odds to save their patients. When things don’t go as they should, it’s up to their medical colleagues to determine what went wrong and what can be learned.
Every Monday, the doctors of Chelsea General must gather with their peers for a confidential review of complications and errors in patient care.
Leading the hospital staff are Doctor Harding Hooten (Alfred Molina) and Doctor Jorge Villanueva (Ving Rhames).
Hooten is the steely-eyed Chief of Staff, speaks softly but carries a massive stick. He was nicknamed “Hardly Human” long ago for his exacting, punishing ways during the weekly morbidity and mortality meetings.
Villanueva, known as El Gato, is a giant of a man. He is also perhaps the most celebrated trauma chief in the country — clearly the elephant in this circus. El Gato’s seat-of-the-pants diagnoses are the stuff of legend around Chelsea General.
Their cadre of medical talent includes:
Doctor Tyler Wison (Jamie Bamber), a hotshot neurosurgeon who has a well-earned god complex. Doctor Tina Ridgeway (Jennifer Finnigan), a compassionate neurosurgeon who’s willing to fight for cases that may seem like lost causes to others. Her home life is in turmoil so she finds refuge at the hospital.
Doctor Sung Park (Keong Sim) is a Korean-American and is abrupt socially and English-challenged. He’s also ambitious to the core with his searing intensity being palpable. Doctor Sydney Napur (Sarayu Rao) is a cardiothoracic surgeon who’s married to the job. A compulsive multi-tasker, she speaks quickly and takes absolutely no prisoners.
Doctor Buck Tierney (Bill Irwin) is the hospital’s Chief of Transplantation. A man driven to the point of bullish, he is least liked among the Chelsea General staff. Doctor Michelle Robidaux (Emily Swallow) is a twenty-something resident. Inexperienced yet eager, she is finding her footing among experienced giants.
Episode #10 — Family Ties
Hooten and Buck find themselves facing off in court against attorney Mitch Tompkins (guest Anthony Heald) after a grieving son refuses to comply with his mother’s final wishes.
Sydney’s outrage over the health of a morbidly obese 16-year-old boy further strains her relationship with Lieberman (guest Jonathan Silverman). And a seemingly harmless patient (guest Kenneth Mitchell) puts one of Chelsea General’s own in grave danger.
First aired: April 8, 2013.
What do you think? Do you like the Monday Mornings TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for another season?
Inspired writing, compelling storylines and above average acting. This show simply needs some promotional support from the network. Bring it back!
I liked this show. It figures! They cancel all the good shows and keep on stupid things like the Kardashians. I guess if it is not about spoiled arrogant brats or hillbillies, you don’t stand a chance. WTF!
We loved this show, could not wait until, Monday evening to watch it. Smart, innovative, and intelligent show. Please bring it back.
i think CBS or TNT were complete idiots to cancel one of the best medical tv shows on any channel
Really….cancel a show that inspires people to do good in this world. I am a medical student and I have fallen in love with this story line. The characters is inspire you to do your best. My entire family loves this show. We could watch it over and over. I do not understand for the life of me why they would cancel such a wholesome show and leave trash on TV.
Love it! Don’t get rid of it. Such real and down to earth stories. Great show!!!!
Oh no – you have to think!! Great show, good actors and characters but you have to think!
Oh no. We need more MTV and Miley Cypress being stupid and you don’t have to think!
Monday Mornings was one of those rare shows like Homicide, South Land, and a few others that show up, impress the hell out of lots of people but then just fades away – why – because you have to …………………..
CANCEL SHOWS LIKE THE ONE CHARLIE SHEEN PLAYS IN WHERE HE SLEEPS WITH WOMEN YOUNG ENOUGH TO BE HIS DAUGHTERS AND THE LANGUGE IS R RATED. MONDAY MORNINGS WAS A SHOW EVERYONE COULD RELATE TO. I LOVED THIS SHOW. BRING IT BACK
Monday Mornings was a good show don’t cancel it.
Renew this show it was awesome
I think the storyline, is unique and wonderful, the actors are great as well. I think the show needs and should be brought back best television I’ve seen in a while!
Please don’t cancel this show! This was solid great entertainment. The writing and situations are more believable than all those other so called medical dramas out there. The actors are fabulous too! Please reconsider!
The show STARRED Ving Rhames. He needs to be listed first. I have noticed the habit of dropping the lead player to either a lower level or eliminating the name altogether when the star is African american. Why is that? You will have to get used to it, as this country moves to a non-white majority: people insist on seeing themselves mirrored in the media. Otherwise, they won’t watch the shows and consequently, ad dollars will shrink. It all comes down to not black, white, brown or yellow, but green.
I agree with Connie McCoy maybe if you start by, listing bigger well known names first like Ving Rhames instead of actors that no one knows about. That may actually prompt more people to watch if they enjoy know or like that actors talent.
You finally find a show that is unique and BLAM it’s cancelled. This is a big mistake.
This program is about taking responsibility. I was in awe of it.
My programs that I watch religiously are Major Crimes (formerly The Closer), Rizzioli and Isles, Cold Case, Without a Trace, NCSI and of course Law and Order.
I never watch network unless the all game is on 9 or 11. Thanks for all your good shows.
Please reconsider dropping Southland and Monday Morning. They were both innovative and written extremely well.
I loved this show. It came on a bit later than I can stay up so I recorded it to watch early the next evening. Perhaps an earlier time slot might help ratings. PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!
What an absolute shame. It was my most favorite show of the season. So what’s left? Two and a Half Men and Two Broke Girls talking about body parts.
