It looks like there won’t be a fifth season for the Mr. Selfridge TV series. “It’s the last series,” co-star Amanda Abbington reportedly told What’s On TV, “We won’t be doing any more, which will be really sad because it’s been a part of my life for four years.” While ITV hasn’t confirmed or denied Abbington’s statement, last year series creator Andrew Davies said, “It was always conceived of as four series.”
Mr. Selfridge follows flamboyant businessman Harry Selfridge (Jeremy Piven) who decides to build the biggest and finest department store in the world at the “dead end” of Oxford Street in London. In addition to Piven and Abbington, the series stars Frances O’Connor, Katherine Kelly, Gregory Fitoussi, Aisling Loftus, and Trystan Gravelle.
The third season of Mr. Selfridge, which airs on PBS here in the States, is currently airing. The show has already been renewed for a fourth season of 10 episodes. They’re expected to begin airing next year.
What do you think? Do you like the Mr. Selfridge TV series? Do you think it should end after four seasons?
I guess all good things most come to an end, but their were some loose ends that could have been tied up, I personally think. Jeremy Pivens was excellent. I thought the only thing he could do was “Entourage” Glad to see he is truly a good actor.. I think a nomination should be called for.
Truly, I’m glad it ended there. That’s as good a place as any. I’m afraid that Harry Selfridge didn’t end well. He lost his company, his family, his properties, and in the end, his self-esteem and sanity. He died penniless. By the time he died, he had already lost control of his company and I don’t believe any of his children wanted to take over any way. They were scattered around the globe by then. Honestly, I don’t think I would want to see Harry’s downfall in to destitution, drunken insanity. The end was not pretty. It’s better that it… Read more »
Oh no! Please continue this fabulous series!!! Best ever!! Hate to see it end especially since so much complexity in many lives in the show! Hate to see Harry losing though too!! Please keep writing this awesome series that is truly amazing from the music, storylines, and fashion & total elegance seen every episode!! Quite enjoyable!!
Being a HUGE fan of Mr Selfridge, I want it to go on forever
So Yes I would love more series
Being a HUGE
Mr. Selfridge has been the best series on TV in my opinion. The part was made for Jeremey Piven who does an outstanding job. I hope the story line will stay true to the real Mr. Selffridge. It will make me sad to see the series end. It will be a tearjerker to see Harry aged, deaf and the party life over and his money gone. I really loved this series, looked so forward to each hour. All my family tuned in weekly
I would like to see a fifth season. He led a very interesting life, unfortunately ending in a sad way. I believe his life makes for very good theatre. Better than most! You all should make the most of it!!
Love the series as I am from the UK and visited Selfridges weekly as I worked in Fleet Street, London. The series is wonderful, brings back many memories.
It really shouldn’t end it’s such a brilliant array of characters
I just seemed odd to stop there hope they are working on more
Adore the show every bit
I will be very sorry to see the series end after season 4. It’s intelligent writing, complex characters, and period grandeur are a refreshing change to reality tv and it’s trashy components.
You are kidding me!!! I love this show!! I sincerely hope they will have a fifth season!!
I absolutely love the show Mr. Selfridge and am very disappointed there will not be a new season. The history and the story have been fascinating. I have looked forward to viewing the show every week.
Love watching Mr. Selfridge. Season 1 and 2 were more positive, although not without problems for the characters. Season 3 is far more dark. Negative scenarios for almost every major character. Many beloved characters from Season 1 & 2 are gone from Season 3. We may or may not know what happened to them in season 4. Don’t know how far into Harry’s life Season 4 will go, but it will be sad to see the end either way. Certainly sorry to see the end of the series.
I think season 5 is essential to finish the story of his life and his romance with Jenny of the Dolly sisters. I am tremendously disappointed that it is ending.
this is such a lovely period piece.Give us another season. In case you not know, period pieces are in big time now.hard to come up with new ideas.you have only to look at TV.Guide to see some old stuff. Other I intavators, have noticed. Selfridge is all about history
,nice to see our beginnings.which is a Hallmark of PBS.
Would like to see more of Mr. Selfridge.
