It looks like there won’t be a fifth season for the Mr. Selfridge TV series. “It’s the last series,” co-star Amanda Abbington reportedly told What’s On TV, “We won’t be doing any more, which will be really sad because it’s been a part of my life for four years.” While ITV hasn’t confirmed or denied Abbington’s statement, last year series creator Andrew Davies said, “It was always conceived of as four series.”
Mr. Selfridge follows flamboyant businessman Harry Selfridge (Jeremy Piven) who decides to build the biggest and finest department store in the world at the “dead end” of Oxford Street in London. In addition to Piven and Abbington, the series stars Frances O’Connor, Katherine Kelly, Gregory Fitoussi, Aisling Loftus, and Trystan Gravelle.
The third season of Mr. Selfridge, which airs on PBS here in the States, is currently airing. The show has already been renewed for a fourth season of 10 episodes. They’re expected to begin airing next year.
What do you think? Do you like the Mr. Selfridge TV series? Do you think it should end after four seasons?
I just love this series and was looking forward to seeing the fashions of the glamorous thrities and all the things that happened before the second world war. Bring Mr Selfridge back please.
I think it should go on it is a great series I simply loved it. And surely there are more story lines to be had
Downton Abby gone and now Mr. Selfridge! Why? These are two VERY good shows. I am sad.
Bring them both back! Please!
I simply loved it and am very sad for it to stop after the loss of Downton Abbey. It’s awful
Unfortunately Masterpiece doesn’t run their series for very long. I am disappointed this is the way it is. Losing 2 great series in the same year, Mr Selfridge and Downton. So far no other series measures up to these two.
It would be nice if they would continue the series. They need not have to have the character of mr. Selfridge anymore. They could follow the other characters and create a new series.
What happened to Lord Loxley in this final season?
I have to say that Jeremy Piven was the weak part. He did not possess the depth needed to show the character of mr. Selfridge, who is more three-dimensional.
Love the series, but they’ve done the best of the life of Selfridge. Halfway through Season 4 and I hope it ends on a positive note and not with Harry totally in ruins.
Tot bad, was best series ever, not even one episode was boring….
I was so looking forward to another season. I hope PBS won’t let us down.
I have watched both series one and two over the last ten days and am about to go out to the shops and buy series throught three. I have found the whole story gripping, inspirational and just simply brilliant. Fantasticly written, brilliant cast. I just love it (I also know Chatham Dockyard and the next time I am there, I shall go for a wonder down the road they used for the outside the store shots.) I am even considering regular pilgramages to Selfridges. He may have been a rougue in his personal like and a risk taker but I… Read more »
My daughter and I absolutely love this series and we both feel that there wasn’t a proper ending to it. Please make another season. Great entertainment and very interesting every time….
We (my wife and I) watched Mr Selfridge on Amazon Prime, where we could watched all 3 seasons almost back to back. We watched the period piece, I knowing it was based upon real people and my wife enthralled with the costumes. We were laughing at times and brought to tears several times especially when Doris ran in front of the bus, but always looking forward to the next episode, like a good book you can’t put down. When we reached the end of season 3, we look at each other and said this can’t be the way it ends.… Read more »
