Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night’s episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey’s Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?
My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.
With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn’t happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by request of the network and/or the producers. The one exception has been King. Earlier this week she tweeted, “Thanks to all for supporting My Generation! I hope there will be a way for all of u to see the rest of the amazing shows we made! Xx” Responding to a comment from an upset viewer, King commiserated, “it is frustrating sometimes.”
Shortly after the cancellation news broke, Lone Star creator Kyle Killen playfully tweeted to My Generation creator Noah Hawley, “condolences. we should have a beer and compare third episodes.” A few days later, Hawley responded by simply writing, “done.”
Hawley has offered brief updates on the show. On Monday, he wrote, “Saw most of the cast last night. My understanding is we’ll be finishing the 8 existing episodes for release online or DVD.” He later added, “We would say more, but it’s not our style.” Last night, Hawley indicated that discussions about releasing the six unaired installments were ongoing.
Considering the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly unlikely that the cast and crew were able to wrap up the show’s many storylines.
What do you think? Would you like to see the remaining episodes of My Generation? Would you consider buying a DVD of the series? Would you like the producers to hear about what would have happened?

Really bummed that this awesome show got cancelled!!! My husband and I were really into it.
Why would they cancel this show!!!!!!!!!!!?? It was really good … I would totally buy the dvd I cant believe ABC would cancel this show
Im seriously confused. I was sitting waiting for greys to start and i started watching My Generation and was totally hooked. It is hard these days to catch peoples attention when there are so many shows on but I will be the first to admit that I couldnt walk away from this one and was so excited to see the next episode. I am so sad that I wont get the chance. I would totally buy it on DVD.
REALLY???? I’m so tired of good shows being cancelled before a full season airs. How about giving it a chance and not leaving the fans hanging? It seems like if it doesn’t pertain to something criminal or medical these days…the stations don’t keep the shows around long! This sucks and I really hope the remaining episodes will either be aired or available to purchase.
I really enjoyed this show as well, however I’m not surprised it got cut. Broadcasters are, unfortunately, only doing their jobs when they drop a show after low ratings as this one has seen. I do hope that the other episodes come out in some form.
I was really liking this show. Bummer it was cancelled I would buy the DVD I wanna know what happens to everyone.
Bummer! I was so excited to see a show for once with a great cast and a quality story line worth watching. Apparently people are into watching trash these days and there are very few good shows left without a constant plug for sex or violence. Too bad . . . too bad.
I too really enjoyed this show. I was wondering why they didn’t play a new episode the last few weeks, and I guess now I have my answer. It is so sad because this show was really good! How can the network judge something like this after only two episodes! They should have at least let the season play out. Now all they play are reruns of Greys, which I won’t watch because I saw the same episode the week prior. Is there anything we can do to get this show back on air????
For once there is a good show that isn’t about cops or doctor s and they just had to pull it. It was a great show that wasn’t given a chance.
I loved this show and am very sad to see it off the air already. I’d definitely be interested in seeing the other episodes. Perhaps a cable station will pick up! This is a GREAT show.
Not surprised.
I want to know if there is anyway to complain about it being off the air. I really loved the show and definitely want to see the remaining episodes. I don’t really understand why abc would do that it is stupid.
This was actually a really good show. It seemed to be getting even more interesting too! I am in shock that it was cancelled!
What the heck? The show was turning out to be really good and then you pulled it all on the reviews of some dumbass critics who don’t know anything about good tv and movies. Just saying.
I’m so upset that this show has been canceled! Finally…….a great TV series has come out on the air again………..and then this!! They didn’t even give the show a chance! How can you seriously judge a show by only 2 episodes? Come on!! I would love to purchase the DVD for the season though if it is ever gonna be available.
