Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night’s episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey’s Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?
My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.
With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn’t happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by request of the network and/or the producers. The one exception has been King. Earlier this week she tweeted, “Thanks to all for supporting My Generation! I hope there will be a way for all of u to see the rest of the amazing shows we made! Xx” Responding to a comment from an upset viewer, King commiserated, “it is frustrating sometimes.”
Shortly after the cancellation news broke, Lone Star creator Kyle Killen playfully tweeted to My Generation creator Noah Hawley, “condolences. we should have a beer and compare third episodes.” A few days later, Hawley responded by simply writing, “done.”
Hawley has offered brief updates on the show. On Monday, he wrote, “Saw most of the cast last night. My understanding is we’ll be finishing the 8 existing episodes for release online or DVD.” He later added, “We would say more, but it’s not our style.” Last night, Hawley indicated that discussions about releasing the six unaired installments were ongoing.
Considering the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly unlikely that the cast and crew were able to wrap up the show’s many storylines.
What do you think? Would you like to see the remaining episodes of My Generation? Would you consider buying a DVD of the series? Would you like the producers to hear about what would have happened?

I cannot believe they took this show off the air! It was one of the best shows I have seen in a while and anticipated the season premier for an entire month. Why would they continuously preview the season premier and then just take it off the air? I think this show would have increased ABC’s rating tremendously. They didn’t even give the show a chance to survive by only allowing 2 episodes to run. I am highly disappointed with ABC’s decision.
YEEEEESSS!!!! If they come on DVD or where ever then I will be watching them! SAD:(
Whaaaaat? WHY was this show canceled?? We just found a cool show to watch that seemed to have substance.. we were getting into the characters… Why would they cancel this show so soon without even giving it a chance? What’s wrong with networks! Big mistake 🙁
YES I would love to watch the rest of it. I hope they make the DVD available.
I hate television executives. Television is filled with such crap and finally a show I was excited to watch, gone in two episodes. You’d think they’d learn from My So Called Life, Freaks and Geeks, etc.
ABC needs to give the show a chance. I loved that show and was trying to figure out why it was not recording, the networks need to understand most people record tv shows now and watch them when they have time.
VERY upsetting! Take off No Ordinary Family and leave My Generation on!! WTH? I would watch it online or on DVD. Very good show. Very disappointed can’t see the rest. Hate it when networks do that! Leave the crappy ones on and take off the decent ones.
man i just got the chance to watch this show and I thought it was actually pretty good. It may have started off slow but it picked and became very interesting. I want to see the rest of the episodes! ABC should def bring it back.
Really enjoyed the show. Very disappointed it was cancelled!
I really like the show….I don’t know y they cancelled it….now we don’t know what happens. Smh
I’m very disappointed! I really liked this show and would love to see another network pick it up! if that doesn’t happen then i would definitely either watch it online or by the seried dvd!
The show was really good. I was wondering why I couldn’t find it listed. ABC needs to bring this back so we can see what really happens. I would love to see these on line or on DVD I would buy this for sure.
I was looking forward to enjoying My Generation. Would love to see the remaining episodes online or DVD
Very disappointed in ABC I loved the show!! Now I’m curious as to how all the storylines end up.
I agree that I finally found a show I wanted to watch – one without a fake laugh track and that actually had an interesting mix of characters. I guess I’ll wait and watch it online.
I’m upset that the show is cancelled. I loved the show and I was looking forward watching the show. I have been to figuere out why its not showing. Because I record my favorite shows and watch them in my own convenient time. I hope the show comes back on. It deserves to be seen.
