Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night’s episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey’s Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?
My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.
With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn’t happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by request of the network and/or the producers. The one exception has been King. Earlier this week she tweeted, “Thanks to all for supporting My Generation! I hope there will be a way for all of u to see the rest of the amazing shows we made! Xx” Responding to a comment from an upset viewer, King commiserated, “it is frustrating sometimes.”
Shortly after the cancellation news broke, Lone Star creator Kyle Killen playfully tweeted to My Generation creator Noah Hawley, “condolences. we should have a beer and compare third episodes.” A few days later, Hawley responded by simply writing, “done.”
Hawley has offered brief updates on the show. On Monday, he wrote, “Saw most of the cast last night. My understanding is we’ll be finishing the 8 existing episodes for release online or DVD.” He later added, “We would say more, but it’s not our style.” Last night, Hawley indicated that discussions about releasing the six unaired installments were ongoing.
Considering the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly unlikely that the cast and crew were able to wrap up the show’s many storylines.
What do you think? Would you like to see the remaining episodes of My Generation? Would you consider buying a DVD of the series? Would you like the producers to hear about what would have happened?

Please bring this show back – it was my new favorite and I thought my DVR was screwed up 🙁
One of the more interesting shows this season. I was looking forward to watching this every week….and then poof! It’s gone!! Two episodes is not enough to secure a market audience. What a mistake.
yes i would by the dvds
Dang, I watched and when I could’nt find it I was wondering if I saw it on another network. I just now realize it’s gone. Please bring it back.
So sad it was canceled… I looked forward to it as part of my Thursday line up. Sad day that crap shows and re-runs stay and an entertaining show like this is canceled. ABC made a mistake because friends of mine saw the first couple episodes after they aired and loved it… oh well…. guess I’ll watch another network for that time-slot.
Can’t believe they cancelled. This show was so good, and I was so getting into the characters. To BAD ABC. Sad to don’t know a good thing when ya have it. reruns of Gray’s isn’t going to hold my attention.
I would definately buy the dvd. the show was so interesting
I’m pretty bummed. I was starting to get into it.
Shame, shame on you ABC. You never gave this show a chance. You promoted the heck out of it and didn’t let it get off the ground before shutting it down. Please let us see the rest of it. You lost a viewer for their time slot. Why would I want to watch reruns of Grey’s Anatomy? Reruns come to fast these days as it is. You dropped the ball on this one!! These actors deserve better. My son is the age of these characters and some of the story lines are sort of close to him and his friends… Read more »
I really want to know what happened!! Me and my roommates really got into the show and would be more that willing to buy the DVD but would much rather see them on tv before Grey’s like it was supposed to be…
Bring it back!!!!!!
I was really enjoying this program. I can’t believe that they would cancel after only two shows. What ever the reason I don’t they even gave it a chance. Hopefully things will change just like it did for One Tree Hill when it was supposed to be over.
please let us see the rest of the episodes!!! I was so looking forward to it!!
I thought my DVR wasn’t working….I didn’t realize the show was cancelled. Please bring it back!
This show was actually good and interesting to watch so I can’t believe that they cancelled it!!!!!!
