Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night’s episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey’s Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?
My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.
With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn’t happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by request of the network and/or the producers. The one exception has been King. Earlier this week she tweeted, “Thanks to all for supporting My Generation! I hope there will be a way for all of u to see the rest of the amazing shows we made! Xx” Responding to a comment from an upset viewer, King commiserated, “it is frustrating sometimes.”
Shortly after the cancellation news broke, Lone Star creator Kyle Killen playfully tweeted to My Generation creator Noah Hawley, “condolences. we should have a beer and compare third episodes.” A few days later, Hawley responded by simply writing, “done.”
Hawley has offered brief updates on the show. On Monday, he wrote, “Saw most of the cast last night. My understanding is we’ll be finishing the 8 existing episodes for release online or DVD.” He later added, “We would say more, but it’s not our style.” Last night, Hawley indicated that discussions about releasing the six unaired installments were ongoing.
Considering the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly unlikely that the cast and crew were able to wrap up the show’s many storylines.
What do you think? Would you like to see the remaining episodes of My Generation? Would you consider buying a DVD of the series? Would you like the producers to hear about what would have happened?

Wow!!! I was so disappointed to find out the show had been cancelled. I want to know so bad what happened to each of the characters. I thought it was so real life. There is not another show like it. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRING IT BACK!!!!!
I liked the show, thought it had potential to go somewhere. I would definitely catch the remaining episodes if they were released online.
I definitely loved the show. I looked forward to it each Thursday night and I am pretty disappointed that it has been canceled. They did not advertise it enough and I believe that if they had given it a few more weeks ratings, and viewers would have risen as it became more well known and news of it spread. I was already encouraging my friends to watch it and they were becoming hooked just as it was canceled. Major disappointment.
I thought the first two episodes were great! Its to bad that they cancelled it, because me and my cousin was glued to the show.
BRING IT BAAAACK!!! Since I work late, I was recording it on my DVR every week. I was so disappointed when the last recording turned out to be an episode of Grey’s. I’m seriously upset, it was so fresh and unique! Haven’t seen a show this good in a long time!
I was shocked that this great show was cancelled after 2 shows . I hope the network has 2nd thoughts and brings it back . Maybe another night and time slot might help .
This show was really good and I am so shocked it was canceled. I was so looking forward to a season of watching a show with a good story line ( we can all relate somehow to one of the characters ) instead of all this other garbage on t.v. Please bring it back!!!!
My Generation was a great show, I’m truly disappointed that ABC canceled it. It wasn’t your average show, it had meaning and a great story behind it. People could relate to it. ABC needs to bring it back! 🙂
I am very upset. I really enjoyed the first two episodes and would have loved to see the rest. I would pay to buy thw dvd.
I was wondering what happened to this show.. Me and my 12 year old watched it together.. and there are very few show that we have in common. I had set my DVR to tape.. I didn’t want to miss a thing. I hope they do release the remaining episodes on DVD.. Bring it back.. Give it a chance!! dang I don’t know how you can make a determination after 2 episodes.. and you’ve let worse show stay on the air longer!!
I loved the show I was waiting to watch the new episodes these past couple of weeks and saw repeats of greys anatomy. I was mad they weren’t showing it and wondered why. So I googled it and seen they cancelled it?! That was a great show for abc and it related with so many people. Everyone wants to see how their classmates are doin and where they are 10 yrs after graduation, making a show about it was brilliant. I would love to see the other episodes! I wish they wouldn’t have cancelled it.
O COME ONE!!!!!! they didn’t even advertise it properly- the show was really good and I was super psyched for the next show i went onto my dvr played it and it was some old religous couples stuff- I was PISSED they didn’t even give it a chance 🙁 BRING IT BACK BRING IT BACK
Does ABC count dvr recordings and on demand viewers? That could account for the low ratings if not.
I thought this show was sooo good and fresh! What the heck happened? I think they should have given it a few more episodes to see how it would stand. That really sucks :/
I really loved the first two episodes and can not believe it was cancelled so quick. I would definately buy the episodes on dvd. I think cancellling this show was a huge mistake. After all the promoting they did for this show, what a waste. Please bring it back or at least put the rest of the episodes out on dvd.
I agree totally. I loved the show and was so hyped up for it by all the big commercials. Hearing that they canceled it ruined by night, even though I love Grey’s Anatomy, I would rather watch My Generation than reruns. I was hooked after two episodes!
