Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night’s episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey’s Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?
My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.
With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn’t happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by request of the network and/or the producers. The one exception has been King. Earlier this week she tweeted, “Thanks to all for supporting My Generation! I hope there will be a way for all of u to see the rest of the amazing shows we made! Xx” Responding to a comment from an upset viewer, King commiserated, “it is frustrating sometimes.”
Shortly after the cancellation news broke, Lone Star creator Kyle Killen playfully tweeted to My Generation creator Noah Hawley, “condolences. we should have a beer and compare third episodes.” A few days later, Hawley responded by simply writing, “done.”
Hawley has offered brief updates on the show. On Monday, he wrote, “Saw most of the cast last night. My understanding is we’ll be finishing the 8 existing episodes for release online or DVD.” He later added, “We would say more, but it’s not our style.” Last night, Hawley indicated that discussions about releasing the six unaired installments were ongoing.
Considering the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly unlikely that the cast and crew were able to wrap up the show’s many storylines.
What do you think? Would you like to see the remaining episodes of My Generation? Would you consider buying a DVD of the series? Would you like the producers to hear about what would have happened?

I loved this show! My room mate and I were so excited to see it each Thursday. I would definitely like to see the rest online or buy the DVD.
I REALLY liked this show!! Would love to see the remaining shows!!
NO!!! It was such a good show. How could they take it off the air? It was so intense, all the peoples’ lives tied together without necessarily knowing it. I wanted to know what happened to all the different people and where they end up shortly in the future. Even if the rest of the episodes from this season are released, I doubt it will tie up all the loose ends, and if it does it’ll just seem rushed. 🙁 I really enjoyed it. It was my new favorite show… what to watch now…
I, too, was finally interested in a series. I’m very disappointed to hear it was cancelled. I’d love to know how the stories end! They should try another day/time slot. It was a very original idea for a show and probably ahead of its time. Definitely a loss for those of us who enjoyed it.
Seriously, what the he**, ABC? THAT was actually a good show! Most of the other shows that premiered this fall are legal/thriller dramas that are a dime a dozen! ABC advertised My Generation so much that I was looking forward to watching it, then when I did watch it, I realized that it lived up to my expectations. It was a totally new theme and a new audience was being catered to…late 20’s-early 30’s. For once it wasn’t the CW teeny-bopper shows or the adult CSI type. I thought the writing was great in how they wove together all of… Read more »
Loved the show even if there was only 2 episodes. I really hope they release the 8 episodes. You can’t help be attached to the characters and want to know what will happen next. Good luck to the cast and future endeavors.
I really want to see the remaining episodes! I fell in love with the show after watching just the first episode. Please make them available!!
I was trying to catch up online when I found out it got cancelled… have anybody considered that is exactly our generation of workoholics (30’s) the one portrayed there (so we missed it for work! not for lack of interest) I wont buy a dvd, but would like to see it online… felt very identified with it 🙁
I was just looking at my dvr and realized I didn’t have any recordings of this show. I’m so curious what will happen to everyone, such a good show. Like lots of real life soaps put together. Hope I’ll be able to see the remaining somehow.
I really liked this tv show a lot. I really would like to see more of what happens.
I really LOVED this show!!! I can’t believe they pulled this show. They should of at least put it in a new time slot, and see if ratings took off before cancelling it. Please let me know if they put the rest of the series on DVD, I would for sure purchase it.
I really liked the show! I was shocked at the way it disappeared so quickly. ABC wants you to tune in and watch the stuff they put out, especially stuff they advertise the way they did My Generation, there were about a million teasers for that show weren’t there??? Either way, I’ll think twice before I invest in a new show that ultimately gets pulled so quickly. Sad for the cast, I bet it was going to be amazing. I’d buy it on DVD- since obviously that’s the only way to find out how it ends….
I REALLY liked this show!! Would love to see the remaining shows!!
I really enjoyed this show..the first time in a long time I’ve actually taken the time to get into a series..and it gets cancelled…I think it was probably in a bad time slot….please put the episodes online or something!!
I really liked that show and was very interested in how it would play out, especially with the young woman who was pregnant. There must be a way for us to see the reamining episodes.
