Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night’s episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey’s Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?
My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.
With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn’t happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by request of the network and/or the producers. The one exception has been King. Earlier this week she tweeted, “Thanks to all for supporting My Generation! I hope there will be a way for all of u to see the rest of the amazing shows we made! Xx” Responding to a comment from an upset viewer, King commiserated, “it is frustrating sometimes.”
Shortly after the cancellation news broke, Lone Star creator Kyle Killen playfully tweeted to My Generation creator Noah Hawley, “condolences. we should have a beer and compare third episodes.” A few days later, Hawley responded by simply writing, “done.”
Hawley has offered brief updates on the show. On Monday, he wrote, “Saw most of the cast last night. My understanding is we’ll be finishing the 8 existing episodes for release online or DVD.” He later added, “We would say more, but it’s not our style.” Last night, Hawley indicated that discussions about releasing the six unaired installments were ongoing.
Considering the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly unlikely that the cast and crew were able to wrap up the show’s many storylines.
What do you think? Would you like to see the remaining episodes of My Generation? Would you consider buying a DVD of the series? Would you like the producers to hear about what would have happened?

This is really upsetting due to the fact that I liked the show. I’m a full time student and I work a full time job, so I had a series recording set up on my DVR. Today I decided to catch up on a few tv shows, and my generation there was nothing. I have been searching today and thought I had accidently erased the series recording. Then I gave up, searched google, and got to this website. I thought it was a good show and would absolutly love to see the rest. If they came out on DVD I… Read more »
I would by the DVD’s. I was really getting into the show and was really looking forward to the third one when it disappeared. Why do they cancel all the good ones? I am still missing Eastwick!
soo disappointed!!!! the show reminded me of my own life was able to relate. the show was awesome.
Super upset! Came home from a rough day at work hoping id catch the 3rd show only to find it had been canceled. This series had tremendous authentic potential. ‘My generation’ was a lot like digging up a time capsule, burried when i was a teenager. I smiled at the things that still have an emmotional connection with my life at it’s current, and cringe at the things that i regret in its past. Cutting the show wasnt what I wanted to see happen just yet. Big dissapointment.
So maddd i really loved that show !! they should play the rest of the episodes!
I really liked that show. I am extremely disappointed I’ve been waitning for the past 3 weeks wondering what happen. I would live to see what happens. :/
really? i wondered y i was missing an episode and y dvrdidnt have it anymore! booooooooo!
Well that sucks!! It was hard enough to even find this show and now that I did they cancel it?!?!?! GRRREEAAAT! Surely they can’t claim that it was because it was costing them too much in advertising dollars!! Sheesh! Well it was a great premise for a show while it lasted.
very disappointed….ABC should have given the show a better chance
Thast sooo not fair!! I waited all summer for the show to air then they cancel it. At least give it a full season’s shot.
I have been waiting for the next episode only to find out it is cancelled! I am so dissapointed, I really liked the first two episodes!!!
I was really into this show. I would buy a DVD to see the whole series.
I am so disappointed that ABC pulled such a great show. In a time like this where all the shows revolve around sex and you can’t even watch a regular commercial without having to switch the channel for fear of having your children see something so inappropriate, we need good wholesome shows like this. I for one am not anticipating watching it, neither online nor dvd, bcus it will still only leave me hanging and wanting to find out what else could’ve happened to all the characters.
I called this not even 10 minutes in. WAYYYY too many story lines to follow and way to many stereotypical characters. Cut the cast in half and build up to the other characters.
so mad!! This was a going to be a good show.
