Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night’s episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey’s Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?
My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.
With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn’t happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by request of the network and/or the producers. The one exception has been King. Earlier this week she tweeted, “Thanks to all for supporting My Generation! I hope there will be a way for all of u to see the rest of the amazing shows we made! Xx” Responding to a comment from an upset viewer, King commiserated, “it is frustrating sometimes.”
Shortly after the cancellation news broke, Lone Star creator Kyle Killen playfully tweeted to My Generation creator Noah Hawley, “condolences. we should have a beer and compare third episodes.” A few days later, Hawley responded by simply writing, “done.”
Hawley has offered brief updates on the show. On Monday, he wrote, “Saw most of the cast last night. My understanding is we’ll be finishing the 8 existing episodes for release online or DVD.” He later added, “We would say more, but it’s not our style.” Last night, Hawley indicated that discussions about releasing the six unaired installments were ongoing.
Considering the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly unlikely that the cast and crew were able to wrap up the show’s many storylines.
What do you think? Would you like to see the remaining episodes of My Generation? Would you consider buying a DVD of the series? Would you like the producers to hear about what would have happened?

at least air the remaining episodes online or release them to dvd.
I really enjoyed the show! If your not going to air the remaining episodes then put them on DVD and I will buy it, I want to know what happens to everyone!
So im usually a reality show junky.but this fall i decided i wanted to change that and actually watch a normal show so i saw the commercial for My Generation and i decided i would pick that show to watch. After the first episode i was hooked it is an amazing show and i feel it should be put back on tv or even online. I would most def go and buy the DVD set if they make one. They didnt give the show a fair chance and so many other shows that are on tv are much worse. They… Read more »
I really liked the show. It’s hard to find shows that my bf and I enjoy equally. We totally relate to it since it is OUR generation. Please put it back on, tons of worse shows make the cut.
Please put the show back on or online, i really like the plotlines and found myself waiting for new episodes to become available via internet. i very much hope that this shows final episodes will be available to the viewers
Please bring the show back!!!!
I was so sad to see this cancelled. It was only the second episode and they yanked it, what???? I thought it was a great show. Today, it is sooo easy for them to cancel shows that they do it way tooo much. There were a lot of great shows on the air that I really got into and yet I have no idea what happened because they were cancelled, just like that. TV producers need to give their audience a chance instead of just seeing the numbers and hating their work. Sometimes people just need time to get acquired… Read more »
I really liked the show! I was totally into it and they just cut it off?! That’s crazy! They didn’t even give it a fair chance! I would totally buy the DVD. I wish they would have a special and jsut run all the episodes like a marathon or something.
Please put the show back on or let us somehow or another see the rest of the recordings! It was a great show as I can relate to some of the show, graduated in 2000 too!
Put the show back I’ve been waiting the see what happens you can’t end after only two shows!?! So disappointing.
I loved the show, yes I would like to see the remaining episodes
I absolutely loved the show and i’m pissed that it was cancelled so soon. It had great story lines and characters. I loved it because i could relate to that time period because it was the same year i graduated from highschool . Its a shame that there wasn’t enough marketing done to get the word out about the show and its premise i think if it was more people especially those in my age group that graduated during that time would like and appreciate a show like this. It was cool how the show documented what the then teens… Read more »
Definitely put it back on! You have to give a new show more than 2 episodes! It has potential!
I’m happy the show was cancelled. It wasn’t interesting and the only plotline worth investing into is the man in the army. Something exciting might actually happen with him. A man being sterile and a dad trying to get back into his son’s life isn’t exciting.
put the show back on please i have been waiting for weeks and was hoping nothing bad happend to anyone
