Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night’s episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey’s Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?
My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.
With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn’t happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by request of the network and/or the producers. The one exception has been King. Earlier this week she tweeted, “Thanks to all for supporting My Generation! I hope there will be a way for all of u to see the rest of the amazing shows we made! Xx” Responding to a comment from an upset viewer, King commiserated, “it is frustrating sometimes.”
Shortly after the cancellation news broke, Lone Star creator Kyle Killen playfully tweeted to My Generation creator Noah Hawley, “condolences. we should have a beer and compare third episodes.” A few days later, Hawley responded by simply writing, “done.”
Hawley has offered brief updates on the show. On Monday, he wrote, “Saw most of the cast last night. My understanding is we’ll be finishing the 8 existing episodes for release online or DVD.” He later added, “We would say more, but it’s not our style.” Last night, Hawley indicated that discussions about releasing the six unaired installments were ongoing.
Considering the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly unlikely that the cast and crew were able to wrap up the show’s many storylines.
What do you think? Would you like to see the remaining episodes of My Generation? Would you consider buying a DVD of the series? Would you like the producers to hear about what would have happened?

Love this show! I watched the rest of the first season online. I was so shocked when I tuned in for the 3rd episode to find grey’s repeats. Please bring this unique and relevant show back for a 2nd season!
This is ridiculous! Its one of my favorite shows to watch. I’m only 17 years old and I hate the new shows that come out now, but this show was really good. It shows an insight of peoples lives and how things do change after high school. Your dreams and goals change as you go through obstacles in your life. Its sad they had to cancel the show, but they need to finish it. We still question about Anders and Brenda. What about Steven and Caroline? Do they ever get to be in a mutual setting and let Tom be… Read more »
I loved this show! It was kind of slow in the beginning but I was totally hooked after the 3rd episode. I’m so mad they canceled it. I was only able to watch it online because I was busy on Thursday nights when it aired! I would totally watch the remaining episodes if they are available. They kinda left us hanging!
I think the cancellation of this show has been a big mistake. Even though it wasn’t that real it still shows a few things that has really happen to many of us. My Generation reminded me when I graduated and where I stand now and this could show a lot of people how life can change even within a few years. ABC really disappointed me.
i hate that this show was canceled, i think it’s crazy, “My Generation” is one the best shows they have come out with in a long time, tv always gets rid of great shows, like my so called life, freaks and geeks, i could go on but now my generation is just added to this list! This show touched home with me because that was my year of graduation and i related to show completely and i think it really sucks that it’s canceled. i hope they bring it back 🙁
I am devastated!! I need to know what happens!
Anders and Brenda? The finale before they get back together? Are you kidding??!
I LOVE this show, I was so upset that it was cancelled, I watched the last 6 episodes online. I’m so upset I will never see what happens with Anders and Brenda!!!!
Where’d you get to see the remaining 6 episodes? Which
site? Thanks. I love it too and still wondering why they ever
cancelled the show :c
I can’t believe this show was cancelled. I loved it. It actually did seem real. I think there were good lessons that were brewing. It was relatable…which is so hard for some shows these days. I’M PISSED.
I like this show…the clips of the last decade makes me think about my own struggles a long the way. The glory of the 90s left many broken promises to a generation that wanted to change the world. And here we are.
