Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night’s episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey’s Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?
My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.
With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn’t happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by request of the network and/or the producers. The one exception has been King. Earlier this week she tweeted, “Thanks to all for supporting My Generation! I hope there will be a way for all of u to see the rest of the amazing shows we made! Xx” Responding to a comment from an upset viewer, King commiserated, “it is frustrating sometimes.”
Shortly after the cancellation news broke, Lone Star creator Kyle Killen playfully tweeted to My Generation creator Noah Hawley, “condolences. we should have a beer and compare third episodes.” A few days later, Hawley responded by simply writing, “done.”
Hawley has offered brief updates on the show. On Monday, he wrote, “Saw most of the cast last night. My understanding is we’ll be finishing the 8 existing episodes for release online or DVD.” He later added, “We would say more, but it’s not our style.” Last night, Hawley indicated that discussions about releasing the six unaired installments were ongoing.
Considering the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly unlikely that the cast and crew were able to wrap up the show’s many storylines.
What do you think? Would you like to see the remaining episodes of My Generation? Would you consider buying a DVD of the series? Would you like the producers to hear about what would have happened?

The show was great!!! It needed more time to catch on with other viewer’s. The show was my new favorite show, I hope ABC brings it back!!
Cancel after a season, not 2 shows!!!! We loved it, and for ABC to cancel it without giving it chance is B.S.!!! Put it back on please!
ABC made a huge mistake. There are a lot of people who like this show. They should have given it more time for people to spread the word. I told a bunch of people about this show today before I heard it was cancelled. Huge disappointment!
I actually watched the first two episodes online and loved them! I am very sad to hear it has been cancelled. I was ready to add it to my “shows to watch” list.
I loved this show… WAHHH Bring it back. When they have so many other crappy shows that they still air why would they cancel this great show! ABC you SUCK
My Generation is unlike anything else on TV right now, and it’s a shame ABC had to go and cancel it. It is definitely the sort of show that could develop an audience over time, and I hope the cast and crew will be able to wrap up the episodes for a DVD release to help us fans get our resolution!
So disappointed! Thursdays were quickly becoming my favorite night on TV!
First of all they only gave it a two week chance which is ridiculous. Second – if they are just going to rerun last weeks Grey’s Anatomy they could have finished off the remaining episodes of My Generation and given it a chance to build an audience. They should have moved it to a different night. In the old days shows got more than two nights to build an audience. This had a lot of potential. I am so tired of investing time and having shows cancelled and it happens so much on ABC
Needless to say, as a pilot to collect over huge viewers are almost out of question, if against other prime time long running episodes, like big Bang, etc. .. and looks like huge folks are quite upset and disappointed about cancellation .. including myself.. look at those people work so hard, and kill it just like that, … It is terrible mistake ABC are making!!
I liked all the characters, was just getting into it, and then that was it. Too bad, I would like to see how it ends.
this is stupid it was a great show why did they cancle it they should the least they could do is put the rest of the season online or make a dvd
The show sucked… I’m glad it’s cancelled
I’m so upset-I loved this show!@
I am extremely disappointed. This was my favorite new show and I found out tonight it was cancelled I’m still heartbroken..BRING IT BACK ABC.
I LOVED this show and was so sad when I heard it was canceled. I am a die hard Grey’s fan and was sooo excited that something I enjoyed came on before. I would def buy the DVDs…. too bad it won’t be on TV though
