Not long after the TV ratings came in for last Thursday night’s episode of My Generation, the show was cancelled by ABC. To the dismay of many viewers, the series was pulled from the schedule immediately and ultimately replaced by repeats of Grey’s Anatomy. Will viewers ever get to see the remaining episodes? How many are there anyway?
My Generation follows a group of twenty-somethings who were part of a documentary while in high school. Ten years after graduation, the filmmaker returns to see how their lives have changed. The ABC series stars Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, and Sebastian Sozzi.
With such a large ensemble cast, you would think that many would comment about the cancellation. That hasn’t happened. For the most part, the stars have all been pretty silent, perhaps by request of the network and/or the producers. The one exception has been King. Earlier this week she tweeted, “Thanks to all for supporting My Generation! I hope there will be a way for all of u to see the rest of the amazing shows we made! Xx” Responding to a comment from an upset viewer, King commiserated, “it is frustrating sometimes.”
Shortly after the cancellation news broke, Lone Star creator Kyle Killen playfully tweeted to My Generation creator Noah Hawley, “condolences. we should have a beer and compare third episodes.” A few days later, Hawley responded by simply writing, “done.”
Hawley has offered brief updates on the show. On Monday, he wrote, “Saw most of the cast last night. My understanding is we’ll be finishing the 8 existing episodes for release online or DVD.” He later added, “We would say more, but it’s not our style.” Last night, Hawley indicated that discussions about releasing the six unaired installments were ongoing.
Considering the abrupt cancellation, it’s highly unlikely that the cast and crew were able to wrap up the show’s many storylines.
What do you think? Would you like to see the remaining episodes of My Generation? Would you consider buying a DVD of the series? Would you like the producers to hear about what would have happened?

Are you serious? This show was so original and awesome. They are just gonna leave it at that? It was getting really good. This show has a lot of potential, was really looking forward to more episodes. ABC sucks.
I would definitely like to see the remaining six episodes. This show provided a humorous way for Gen X’ers to relive their college years/young adulthood with relatable storylines and witty satire left behind by other shows, save The Office and Modern Family.
You guys must be crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was an excellent show with a unique approach. Bring it back! Or put the remaining episodes online. I can’t believe that you cancelled it. I’m definitely disappointed.
What are talking about?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really liked this show!! I’m sad it was cancelled. I would definitely like to watch the remaining episodes online but would much rather view them on TV.
I loved this show. I sat down to watch it tonight only to find it gone forever. I am so bummed out. It was my generation and I loved it. I would watch the rest of the episodes, even thought I know it would leave me hanging.
I was very interested in the characters and wanted to know what was going to happen next. I guess we will never know. Thanks ABC for another disappointment!!!
The premise of the show was one of the best of all the new shows, but the pilot honestly sucked. Though, since there was many ways this show could’ve gone, and like I said I thought the premise was good, I gave it another chance on the 2nd episode, and while it still wasn’t good, it was much better than the pilot. With that said, they shouldn’t have cancelled Flashforward last year! It would’ve fared much better!!
NOOOO!! I looooved this show.
Finish the series for once.
Every time I finally find a show I like, ABC cans it. Guess I’ll go back to old fahioned reading! So long ABC!
The show undoubtedly had potential; however the pilot may not have been strong enough to hold many ppls attention. I almost didn’t give it another shot, but I did and was pleasantly surprised when the characters stories developed a bit more.
C’est la vie.
Hopefully the cast members will continue to have success elsewhere.
This is definitely an upset. I sat down tonight to watch the show only to be greeted with Patrick Dempsey’s face…grrrr. My generation was going to be my new weekly favorite. I love the characters, the stories that were beginning to unfold, and the cast! I can’t believe that it can be taken off the air that quickly – very sad. I think the show had true potential and I would love to see the remaining episodes – I would consider buying a dvd of the series, but, like others I’m sure, would rather view it on TV. So, put… Read more »

You draw us into the lives of this new cast of characters and then cancel it. Odd. I liked this show. Please show the rest of the episodes online so we can see what happens to them! Thanks.
