The mystery is over. Deadline reports NBC has cancelled The Mysteries of Laura after two seasons.
The crime drama starred Debra Messing as an NYPD homicide detective struggling to raise her young sons as a single mom. Josh Lucas, Laz Alonso, Janina Gavankar, Max Jenkins, Callie Thorne, and Med Steedle also starred.
The cancellation is a little surprising. The Mysteries of Laura held consistently decent ratings over the course of its second season, receiving an average of 1.11 in the 18-49 demo and a total of 6.973 million viewers.
NBC has also cancelled several of their series, including the freshman comedy Telenovela and the live sitcom Undateable.
What do you think? Did you watch The Mysteries of Laura? Are you sad it’s been cancelled?
I always looked forward to this series. The news of how good it was , was by word of mouth . So many of us discussed it. NBC will never be #1 again if it continuously cancels shows without giving the audience to become addicted!!!
I totally agree
The TV network executives need to keep shows that have some sort of decent ratings. The ratings system is outdated and with all the cable shows out there they should accept the good ratings that Mysteries of Laura had. Grrrr….
My husband and I love this show and never miss an episode. I’ve been sitting here every Wednesday saying I hope Laura comes back soon, only to come here and read it’s been cancelled. There are so few interesting shows, without foul language and horrifying scenes. Poor choice to cancel this one.
Well said . I totally agree.
My family and I absolutely love this show. I don’t understand why they keep cancelling awesome shows.
a poor choice to cancel this series it had humor, romance & mystery. I feel like it wasn’t given a chance to succeed with the time changes. I’m disappointed since the storyline was so good.
I loved this show, the cast melded well and the story was real. Funny with serious parts. They should have kept it in a decent time slot and not moved it around or take it off without notice on when it would be back.
Why does NBC keep taking off decent show and saddling us with reality nonsense … No wonder I watch very little on this station. BRING IT BACK !!
OH man! Mysteries of Laura was a first rate tv show, the writing and acting was excellent! It was funny and serious, much like real life. Debra Messing was outstanding, as were all the actors. Just cannot understand it, two other shows I enjoyed have also ended. Guess I will sell the tv and buy some new books!
One of the few shows I never missed. NBC, please reconsider!
I can’t believe it! My granddaughters and I love that show and we’ve been waiting on pins & needles for the premiere show!!!! Please reconsider and bring it back!?!? All the actors brought the show to life together. It wasn’t so violent or ‘sick’ like some of the other shows and the girls and I could watch it together.
I cannot believe that they are actually cancelling this show! With all the horrible stuff on TV that has not been cancelled you end up cancelling a show that was finally worth watching. I give up on NBC.
This is one of my favorites and you’re canceling? Just when I find something I love to watch, I’m very upset!
The problem is the short season. You show 8 episodes and people have to find something else to watch. They likely don’t know it’s back on TV or they found something else they got interested in. Luckily I had it set to record or I would have missed it. You guys have to put more episodes on at a time instead of those mid season breaks. Really? How is a few shows a guage for a successful show? Consumers pay a lot of money for service and you can’t commit to more episodes showing at one time. That’s not how… Read more »
You’re idiots for canceling this show. One of the only GOOD shows on tv
I really like the show The Mysteries of Laura and am very disappointed it isn’t being renewed for the Fall.
I was a big follower of Castle but the show was going in the wrong direction. Then the Mysteries of Laura came along and reminded me of the old days of Castle but with a twist. Thoroughly enjoyed this show and am very sad to see it canceled. TV has gone to the dogs and they forget that those of us over 50 are tired of not having anything to watch. Zombies, dark sided shows, revival of comic books and extreme action visuals are not what everyone wants to see. A good show, like the Mysteries of Laura, where you… Read more »
