What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the CMT cable channel, Nashville continues to follow the lives and careers of country music superstars Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) and Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton). Both women face personal and professional challenges as they navigate their paths as artists and individuals. Surrounding them and often complicating their lives are their family, friends and, in some cases, lovers, as well as the up-and-coming performers and songwriters trying to get ahead in the business. The Nashville TV show cast also includes Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Sam Palladio, Chris Carmack, Jonathan Jackson, Lennon Stella, and Maisy Stella. Recurring are David Alford, Ed Amatrudo, Kourtney Hansen, Scott Reeves, Kyle Dean Massey, Rhiannon Giddens, Bridgit Mendler, Jen Richards, Murray Bartlett, Cameron Scoggins, Joseph David-Jones, Joanie Stewart, and Christian Coulson. Will Chase guest stars as Luke Wheeler.

Telly’s Take
Although Nashville’s season five ratings may seem abysmal when compared to season four, that’s really a case of comparing apples to oranges. The first four seasons of this country music business drama aired on ABC — a major broadcast network — whereas season five is on the much smaller CMT cable channel. So far, CMT has been issuing press releases touting the ratings records Nashville has broken for them. What’s more, CMT has a deal with Hulu which allows the streaming service to run episodes the day after their CMT debut. This defrays CMT’s outlay for the series. While I cannot guarantee CMT will renew Nashville for a sixth season, don’t let the ratings convince you the show is doomed to cancellation. I suspect it will be back for season six.

What do you think? Are you glad that the Nashville TV show has been renewed for season six on CMT? How many seasons do you think this TV show should last?
I never was a country fan until I started watching Nashville. Isn’t that one of the things entertainment does to a viewer, getting them onboard and involved in the show and buy the albums these actors debut. What talent, OMG. CMT, you owe your fans to continue this show so we can continue to appreciate these fine singers.
