Is Nashville worth watching without Rayna James? Recently, rumors have circulated that Connie Britton is leaving the CMT series this season. So we want to know: Would you watch Nashville without her? Should the series be renewed for season six if she leaves?
Britton plays Rayna James on the country music drama, which moved to CMT for season five after ABC cancelled the show last spring. The cast also includes Hayden Panettiere, Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Sam Palladio, Chris Carmack, Jonathan Jackson, Lennon Stella, and Maisy Stella.
[SPOILER ALERT] During a recent episode of Nashville, James was hit by a truck after a terrifying encounter with her stalker, Carl Hockney. Could this be foreshadowing for the character’s exit? In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, co-showrunner Marshall Herskovitz emphasized Britton’s commitment to the series:
“Connie had a lot to do with that. We had a very long and interesting conversation with her before we started and she talked about her feelings about where Rayna would be right now and also [with creator] Callie [Khouri].”
Earlier, Britton also told Ellen DeGeneres that she was “in for the duration” of Nashville.
What do you think? Do you think Britton will leave? If so, will you still watch the series? Should there be a season six of Nashville without her?
We love Nashville, with or without Rayna. Please bring on season 6!!
I love Nashville. I will watch Nashville
I don’t believe I will.
Nashive is a great show with a stellar cast. It can survive and thrive with Rayna. Please renew!
I have watched the show from the beginning and was so mad when abc cancelled it but then cmt picked it up and I was so happy. Rayna was a big part of the show but I think it may be able to survive another season (at least ) without her- I know I will be watching right along with all the other Nashville fans Please CMT at least one more season
I’m having a hard time watching this show any longer. Too many story lines to follow, can’t find any reason for the “gay” story line as it relates to Nashville or any of the other characters. Finally no one on this show is happy about anything, they are all always filled with angst and sadness and issues that are never resolved. It started as a great view of the country music scene and a behind the records look at Nashville’s music industry and is now a gloppy soap opera mess.
I love watching Nashville. I think the “gay” story line is great. It shows the struggle that the gay character has to deal with. Each of the characters has their own unique problem.
I 100% Agree with you..on every point you made..
My husband and I will definitely keep watching Nashville. Although Connie Britton is no longer on the show, there are still many strong characters who can carry it. There are many good story lines still happening.
Yes, I sure will. We fought hard to get this show. I love Deacon, Juliet, Avery, Maddie & Daphne, Gunnar, Scarlet, and Will. Can’t wait to find out what’s going to happen with all of them. There are a lot of characters still to explore. These new showrunners have brought a lot of new ideas. I thoroughly enjoyed this season.
Not sure Connie and Deacon made the show I think you really messed up with the death of the main character of the show I looked forward to seeing the whole family together it is what made me love the show was the family singing together those moments were special
I really like Connie Deacon and the girls it made the show I feel there is going to be a loss they will never recover from.
Absolutely! So sad to see her leave, but will ALWAYS want to see and hear what the rest of the wonderful characters get up to, e.g: Time for Deacon to SHINE!
Would watch the show but we don’t get CMT. keep the same actors.
I also will miss Rayna, but I love the show and all of the characters. I am excited to see what’s going to happen with Deacon, and the girls. Also I’m interested in Juliette following up with Gospel music, and seeing where that leads. I think that Nashville, Tn. is beautiful and I love the way it’s portrayed on the show. I’m impressed with the way that the show just draws you in and you actually feel that your right there. I love Nashville and I love the show Nashville, I will most definitely be watching Nashville the show, the… Read more »

Yes, we would continue watching. We like the other characters also and want to see what happens to them.
