The mythology of the Orphan Black series continues to go deeper and deeper as more details are revealed. Will BBC America viewers continue to want to go along for the ride — and bring higher ratings? Will the series be renewed for a fourth season or, will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned.
On Orphan Black, a con-woman and orphan named Sarah Manning (Tatiana Maslany) discovers she is one of many clones that have been created by a scientific movement — and are at the center of an assassination plot by a secret religious group. Others in the cast are Dylan Bruce, Kevin Hanchard, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Évelyne Brochu, Ari Millen, and Kristian Bruun.
Below are the show’s TV ratings, typically the best way to tell if the series will be cancelled or renewed. In this case, the show’s UK ratings may have a greater impact on the series’ future. These figures will be updated as the weeks progress.
5/7 update: BBC America has renewed Orphan Black for a fourth season. Details here.
Final season averages: 0.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 440,000 total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: It’s worth noting that the season debut also aired on AMC, IFC, WE tv, and Sundance. Those four channels would add a 0.21 in the demo and 736,000 viewers, bringing the season debut’s numbers to a 0.40 in the demo with 1.271 million.
For comparisons: The second season of Orphan Black averaged a 0.3 (0.25) rating in the 18-49 demographic with 550,000 viewers.
Cable ratings are typically released within a day or so of the show’s airing, except for in the case of weekends and holidays. They are sometimes harder to come by so there may be occasional delays or gaps.
What do you think? Do you still like the Orphan Black TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
I think I’m over it. I enjoyed everything offered on Amazon.prime, where I watched, but it got a little to weird for me. She played the 4 main sisters very well, but by the time I got to the one with the beard and groggy voice – i’ve had enough.
It must be renewed. Its one hell of a serie and it would really piss off many fans if it got cancelled
Caught up to season 2 with streaming and have enjoyed it; not your usual show. Will wait for season 3 availability. BCC America is not on my cable package.
All I can say is…..AMAZING….OB is a well acted, well scripted show. T. Maslaney is a gifted actress. I accidentally found this show during the beginning of it’s first season, got hooked, purchased the DVD and am loving season 2.
I did not know about this show before this post. So, I started watching it on demand and I like it alot! Not surprising, though, I can’t think of any series I’ve watched on BBC America that I haven’t enjoyed. Refreshing change from the cookie-cutter, mind-numbing programming from the big networks.
These ratings for the premiere are not the full picture. It was broadcast over a range of 5 networks simultaneously.
BBC America – 0.19 / 635k
AMC – 0.13 / 411k
IFC – 0.03 / 116k
We – 0.03 / 128k
Sundance – 0.02 / 81k
Total – 0.40 / 1.371m
Episode 2 onwards, when its back solely on BBCA will give a clearer ratings indication.
There’s a notation in the post about the season debut being aired on other channels.
Not the best time to put a season premier. Saturday evening at 8? And the demographic is 18-49? They’re all out and about.
I love this show and have been waiting patiently for it’s return. BBC better renew it for at least 3 more seasons!!!!!!!!! I am dying to know where they go with it!!!!
i love it to but with a 0.19 rating i doubt it. sorry.
One awesome roller coaster of a show!!!!!!!!
i would say this is the last season OB. to bad. i like it.
