It’s not often that a new show gets some people so angry before it even airs but NBC’s new TV show, Outsourced, certainly rubs some people the wrong way. Did that hurt the ratings? Will it be quickly cancelled or become a long-term staple of NBC’s Thursday night line-up?
Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The new sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.
Some people have expressed resentment over the show’s theme, especially considering this country’s struggling economy and unemployment problem. Others maintain that the show’s intent is to show how offices are the same, regardless of where they’re located.

In its first week on the air, Outsourced attracted a 3.6 in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million total viewers. For the timeslot, it ranked in third place in total viewers but was second in the demo, where the numbers really count.
On the downside, Outsourced lost about 20% of its Office lead-in audience in the demo and 12% in total viewers. Also, about 15% of its audience tuned out midway through the episode. Those people gave it a try and probably won’t be back next week.
New shows typically lose about 15% in week two so we’ll have to wait and see how this one’s ratings hold up. For now, things look good for Outsourced.
What do you think? Did you give it a try? Were you offended by Outsourced? Was it different than you expected? Cancel or keep it?

While channel surfing last week I happened upon this show, which struck me as clever, funny, and captivating. I was, therefore, disappointed to find other programming in its time slot this week.
I love Outsourced. It was refreshing to see something different. Also the show is very funny! I hope it gets renewed!!
Nate-
Outsourced Is beyond funny
If you were to make a scale of 1 to 100 and you couldn’t pass 100 of how how funny Outsourced is you would have to hire some kind of mathamatician to create a number between 100 and 101
I cannot stop laughing at Gupta especially when he got that $.10 Moustache T-Shirt and gave it to Rajiv saying
“If I Give you ten cents will you give me a ride to work tomorrow”
Gupta is the funniest character because “Hello, its Gupta”
Love the show and of course all the actors.. great job and the show is hilarious!! shows globalization in depth – teaches how knowledge of culture is sooooo important when taking your business worldwide..
Can’t wait for the second season to start!!
I love this show!!! This is one of the best series I have ever watched!!! I am desperately waiting for the next season to come out!! Keep up the good work !!!!
I love this show!! This is one of the best show I have ever watched! I am desperately waiting for season 2 to come out 🙂
I love Outsourced, look forward to it every week, and howl over every episode. I also love the scenes shot in India. It’s fun to see how the differences in the cultures clash. The strong characters each have their own hilarious personalites. Each is exaggerated to full effect — they are so over the top! It reminds me of Northern Exposure, another quirky, ground-breaking show. NBC, in it’s infinite wisdom, will probably cancel it, as it did with another great, pioneering show, American Dreams. In the meantime, I will look forward to Thursday nights as long as the show lasts.… Read more »
My wife and I really enjoyed the show. Really liked the cultural jokes and anecdotes.
Love the show, I keep watching the episodes over and over and I still laugh everytime. NBC should definitely bring this show back!
Outsourced is complete garbage. Bring back Parks and Rec!!!
Seriously???
Absolutely brilliant writing and funny! The one liners keep on coming and the premise of pushing novelty items based on american pop culture from a Asian country is a stroke of genius.
My boyfriend and I really enjoy this show. We know it will make us laugh!
By far my favorite new show and had surpassed my love for the Big Bang Theory. Bring this show back, and hurry!
My wife and I love Outsourced. We like the dynamic of culture clashes and do not find it offensive. Anyone who thinks it offensive and complains its about Americans losig their jobs is ludacris. No body would do this job especially Americans who would rather be on the system than work a menial job. Grow up and enjoy this well written and acted series
I am also disappointed that I couldnt find this really cool show the last time it should have been on, it was way too short, the 30 minutes flew by and I have to hand it to all the “Wonderful” actors that made it so “Funny” and “Refreshing”. So sorry to see it end so soon!!!
