Like the airline that inspired the TV show, Pan Am has been grounded. ABC has cancelled the drama after one season of 14 episodes.
Taking place in the 1960s, Pan Am tells the tale of a group of men and women who work for the Pan Am airline. The large cast includes Christina Ricci, Mike Vogel, Michael Mosley, Kelli Garner, Margot Robbie, and Karine Vanasse.
The drama debuted last September to a solid 3.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.06 million total viewers. It was second in its timeslot but there was no shame in being beaten by football on NBC.

In week two, Pan Am dropped a reasonable 16% but then dropped a whopping 27% in week three. Over the course of the season, the ratings dwindled down further. Pan Am ended up averaging a 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.39 million viewers but the last few episodes were in the 1.2 demo range.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative success of shows’s demo numbers on the network, Pan Am has a “D+” grade and is one of the worst-rated shows of the season.
There were rumors that the show was being cancelled but they were denied, despite the poor ratings. ABC ordered one additional episode that could have been used to wrap everything up but, for whatever reason, that didn’t happen.
Now, ABC has made it official; Pan Am has been cancelled. The last episode aired on February 19th and unfortunately left some storylines unresolved.

I just found Pan Am and they left my family and I hanging!!? Why?? It had the fashion my 16yo loved, the history that my three teen daughters were intrigued enough to find more about on Google search, the fascination of watching how a culture progressed through female stereotypes, racism issues, politics and how big business culture ruled American business, the communist paranoia and Global issues of a time period that was on the edge of big changes. I’m sorry this wonderful retro series lost viewers. The show was educational as far as history. The cast was delightful and the clothes reflected the sixties. Sorry it won’t be renewed I’m hopeful something will change.
I loved Pan Am when it was first aired and have just watched it again on Netflix – still just as good as I remembered it to be! I have no idea why it got low ratings. Did it clash with something hugely popular being shown at the same time? Great characters, exciting plotlines, glamour and intrigue. So disappointed they never made a finale show at least to tie up loose ends.
So many persons wanting a new season, and still no reply from the producers: wake up !!!

People I talked with really liked this show. Hard to believe the ratings weren’t there. Any chance they were not measured properly? Its been years and I still think back to this show.
Same, man, same. I watched it some years ago (when it was available on Netflix, great times huh). I remember thinking it wasn’t too late and maybe Netflix or any other streaming service would pick it up. Guess what? Never happened. I’ve always wondered about the ratings too, I didn’t watch the show on its original air date, but I really cannot see a good and interesting show like this flopping so bad. I’ve always thought it was such a solid show and it deserved so much better. All we have left is the nostalgia, my friend.
I am extremely upset there is no future Pan Am. It was so good. I hope another network picks it up and keeps it going.

I watched now in 2018 and in my opponion this is a great movie/serie. Really great actors and stories Bring it back please !
Wish that season 2 and more would come. Very intriguing show. Absolutely loved it. Praying Netflix, Amazon or someone will pick it up to continue..
I loved this show and I am very disappointed that it has been cancelled..I love that it is a period show, great actors, fun storylines that are different than anything else on tv. Please bring it back!

I have just finished watching all episodes of this Pan Am series and really can’t understand why it would be axed when it was entertaining – fast moving and I think great acting and story line. TV stations often leave crap programs still on air and especially reality shows where I think most brainless people like to watch. Get real ABC lets have a 2nd series its not too late.
