The axe keeps flying over at TNT. The cable channel already cancelled Dallas and Franklin & Bash and now, they’ve cancelled Perception as well. There won’t be a fourth season.
Perception follows Doctor Daniel Pierce (Eric McCormack), a talented and schizophrenic neuropsychiatrist, as he assists his former student, FBI Special Agent Kate Moretti (Rachael Leigh Cook), solve complex cases. Other castmembers include Kelly Rowan, Arjay Smith, LeVar Burton, and Scott Wolf.
The show is currently in its third season. Ten of the season’s 15 episodes have aired so far and have averaged 2.78 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That’s down about 10% when compared to season two.
While Perception certainly isn’t TNT’s biggest series, it’s been a respectable performer. It seems that the cancellation is at least in part due to the cable channel’s desire to move towards airing edgier series.
It’s worth noting that Legends, a show sited as being more “edgy”, drew only 1.53 million viewers and has yet to be cancelled or renewed.
The final five episodes of Perception will being airing on February 17, 2015. It’s unclear if they will give viewers any kind closure to the series.
ABC Studios produces Perception so there’s a chance that they might try to find another home for the series. There will be 39 episodes at the end of season three — a far cry from the typical 88 episode minimum needed for a syndication package.
What do you think? Do you like the Perception TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled, or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
One of my favorites, keep it going!!
TNT needs to stop canceling great shows. This one is clever and interesting as well as entertaining. Another network needs to pick this show up!!!
Love this show. Why do they want to cancel the good shows??? Please pick this show up on another network!!!
One of my favorites. I hate TNT keeps canceling their best shows. Would definitely watch on a different channel!
Quit cutting the best shows on TNT
Eric McCormick is brilliant. PLEASE, TNT, do not cancel my favorite show on TV. The other characters are great, too, especially Arjay.
Love it. Tired of good shows always being cancelled and otherwise lousy shows keep going
the people don’t get a say
Really great show hate to see it canceled. It looks like it could be to late , Eric Mc Corrmack is part of a new show already. Networks are always looking at ratings and not looking at the fact that a show can be good and still not be a ratings giant. A lot of quality shows get canceled to soon because of the bottom line. Look at NBC with SAVING HOPE, they canceled it before the first season was over and CTV picked it up and gave it a chance and is now in it’s third season.
Smart, funny and very well acted. This show 95% better than most television. TNT should not cancel and if so ABC studios should farm out to another network.
I liked it. Hate to see it go.
I’ve really liked “Perception” and hate to see it cancelled. Yes, I would watch it on another channel. It is different, exciting, and fun to watch. Please, ABC, rescue it!
In order to save Perception we must come together and make a difference. TNT has only canceled Perception because it is not “dark” enough. I found a petition online that wants to save it. Please sign it. If you love and care about Perception please sign it.

Thank you so much! (:
I tried to sign the petition but it didn’t work.
My family loves Eric McCormack, the character he plays on Perception and the show’s premise. We look forward to new episodes, and are very sorry it’s been cancelled! Please don’t cancel!
Hey,
I just signed the petition “TNT: UN-AXE PERCEPTION (GOAL – 20K)” and wanted to see if you could help by adding your name.
The goal is to reach 500 signatures and we need more support. You can read more and sign the petition here:
