The axe keeps flying over at TNT. The cable channel already cancelled Dallas and Franklin & Bash and now, they’ve cancelled Perception as well. There won’t be a fourth season.
Perception follows Doctor Daniel Pierce (Eric McCormack), a talented and schizophrenic neuropsychiatrist, as he assists his former student, FBI Special Agent Kate Moretti (Rachael Leigh Cook), solve complex cases. Other castmembers include Kelly Rowan, Arjay Smith, LeVar Burton, and Scott Wolf.
The show is currently in its third season. Ten of the season’s 15 episodes have aired so far and have averaged 2.78 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That’s down about 10% when compared to season two.
While Perception certainly isn’t TNT’s biggest series, it’s been a respectable performer. It seems that the cancellation is at least in part due to the cable channel’s desire to move towards airing edgier series.
It’s worth noting that Legends, a show sited as being more “edgy”, drew only 1.53 million viewers and has yet to be cancelled or renewed.
The final five episodes of Perception will being airing on February 17, 2015. It’s unclear if they will give viewers any kind closure to the series.
ABC Studios produces Perception so there’s a chance that they might try to find another home for the series. There will be 39 episodes at the end of season three — a far cry from the typical 88 episode minimum needed for a syndication package.
What do you think? Do you like the Perception TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled, or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
Sad…..love this show……please don’t cancel!!!!!!!!
Love this show – it’s too bad TNT cancels all the smart shies and all the crappy shows stay!!
tnt is crappy first Dallas now classy show like PERCEPTION I am surprised the cast even agreed to work on your network
Love this show so much better than the ordinary who done it mystery shows. Please do not cancel!!!!!!!!!! Love McCormick !!!!!!!!
LOVE THIS SHOW!! Hope you can find a way to keep it going!
Please don’t cancel this show. It is even better now that one of the delusions is the younger Pierce. You want an audience? Than keep the show on right through the season.
Darn it! I love Perception. It has a terrific story line and the cast is wonderful. It is quite a bit more cerebral than most of the inane TV that is out there. Please keep it.
Sad news. This is one of the few good shows that the entire family can watch together. Given the criteria TNT is using to cancel the show, it seems that any of their shows could be cancelled regardless of how many people watch it. Sounds like a good reason to stop watching TNT altogether.
Yeah lets cancel this great show & replace it with even better shows like the real housewives & the Kardashians. I wonder if the people making these decisions are even over the age of 25.
Great observation Vikkie!
I think the show is inspired and so much better than most of what is being left on air these days.
I am tired of the increasingly inane Reality Shows that seem to be replacing actual programs– like the soon to be “Undercover Gangs…” Or something like that.
I only hope that ABC has the creative juice to keep this good show alive, as it will live on in syndication if Season 4 is allowed to be.
I love this show…..tnt sucks
Why is it the shows I really like get canceled? I REALLY HOPE THEY FIND A WAY TO SAVE PERCEPTION! I LLOVE THE SHOW!
REALLY???? CANCEL? Perception is an awesome show! Entertaining and educational with a great cast. I would watch it even if it moves to another network but I think you guys should keep it!!!
Seriously? It’s just not about the fans, is it? An edgier show? Really? This is a good, relatively clean show, so let’s cancel it! That’s what’s wrong with the world today… good, clean, and enjoyable just isn’t enough!
COME ON TNT..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 THIS IS A REALLY GREAT SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DON’T CANCELL IT.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAST IS GREAT! SHOW IS REFRESHING, DIFERENT, AND SO BELIEVEABLE……..PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEKEEP THIS SHOW
This show is really great, and has a new idea that’s not cliche, please keep it going. why is it great shows get canceled while meaningless shows are continuous.
