The axe keeps flying over at TNT. The cable channel already cancelled Dallas and Franklin & Bash and now, they’ve cancelled Perception as well. There won’t be a fourth season.
Perception follows Doctor Daniel Pierce (Eric McCormack), a talented and schizophrenic neuropsychiatrist, as he assists his former student, FBI Special Agent Kate Moretti (Rachael Leigh Cook), solve complex cases. Other castmembers include Kelly Rowan, Arjay Smith, LeVar Burton, and Scott Wolf.
The show is currently in its third season. Ten of the season’s 15 episodes have aired so far and have averaged 2.78 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That’s down about 10% when compared to season two.
While Perception certainly isn’t TNT’s biggest series, it’s been a respectable performer. It seems that the cancellation is at least in part due to the cable channel’s desire to move towards airing edgier series.
It’s worth noting that Legends, a show sited as being more “edgy”, drew only 1.53 million viewers and has yet to be cancelled or renewed.
The final five episodes of Perception will being airing on February 17, 2015. It’s unclear if they will give viewers any kind closure to the series.
ABC Studios produces Perception so there’s a chance that they might try to find another home for the series. There will be 39 episodes at the end of season three — a far cry from the typical 88 episode minimum needed for a syndication package.
What do you think? Do you like the Perception TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled, or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
I can’t believe they canceled the only show i went out of my way to watch on that crappy network. Oh well i guess i will go back to not even bothering to see whats on tnt anymore. FOOLS
I like this series, and its okay to watch it in other chanel.
I agree with the others – I really enjoyed the show, the actors were great
and I would watch this on ANY channel! Hope to see it come back!
I am so very disappointed in the cancellation of Perception. It was one of the high marks of television, which has nothing but garbage on it for the most part. I hope that as Hallmark was able to do with Jesse Stone after CBS passed on it, another station that is more in-tuned with viewers will pick it up.
Trying to reply to Claudia. The must film new episodes prior to releasing them & must have all actors under contract. I hope you are correct, though and a 4th season comes out.
I loved Perception and I would definitely watch it on ANY channel that aired it!!! I hate that it was cancelled! Makes me wonder what the heck they are thinking over at TNT.
It would be most interesting ,to hear from the stars of Perception, concerning how they feel about such a good show being chopped. It may be water under the bridge to them, however we, as fans have shown our support many times for them and the show. Does anyone else feel this way?
Yes, Michael Musso. Anything to cling to a little hope that the show might have a future.
I agree Michael. Is there a way to do this or this wishful thinking? Or! Maybe we send the walking dead there since there is no BRAIN Activity in the station.
I would watch Perception on any station that it aired. It was an outstanding show outstanding performances by the actors, especially Eric McCormack! It’s worth waiting for, even if I have to wait till 2016.
My sister-in-law said she heard somewhere that they were going to release 13 episodes. Any one else know about it?
No I have not heard anything on that comment. I will stay in touch with this location and see if there is an answer to your question. Which is a very good one.
I love, love, love Perception. Favorite tv show and I most definitely would watch on another channel, it’s so fascinating.
Great show to bad it ended.
Both my husband and I are fans of Perception and, in particular, Eric McCormack! We find the show, witty, well written, really like the characters, and will miss it big time if it’s not picked up by someone else. It has a refreshingly different spin as compared to other shows — which are beginning to seem TOO similar — and can’t believe that it would be cancelled!
I just found out why Perception was cancelled! Zombies from another network and Kanye West (aren’t they the same) ate the brains of the TNT officials. The walking dead and the Kardashians.banded together to accomplish this.
My dvr has been set to record soooo sad to see it go.
I have in joyed the series and hope it will return.
I can only echo what others have said. This show is intelligent, entertaining and humorous. No matter the station as soon as there’s a great show it gets a new day and time slot then cancelled. So sad to see this one go
I like the aspect to bring mental illness to the “healthy” population. In addition it shows that people with a mental illness can lead a normal life.
