Last season, Person of Interest moved to Tuesday nights and lost Taraji P. Henson. The show also lost a lot in the ratings. Will the numbers continue to fall or will they rise with a new lead-in? Is it essentially guaranteed to be renewed for a fifth season by CBS (because of syndication) or, could it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: Person of Interest has been renewed for a fifth season on CBS. Will it be the end?
Final season averages: 1.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.42 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The third season of Person of Interest averaged a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.83 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Person of Interest TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a fifth season?
Please cancel Person of Interest!!!
Who ever wrote the single sentence ” Cancel Person of Interest” Why do you even bother to write anything on this site. Just don’t watch it. Why don’t you watch some mindless comedy that your kind think is funny. Sorry to be so blunt.
“Your kind,” Laura? Wow. This message board is for everyone with an opinion. It’s not a fan club, so you’re not always going to see the comments you’d like. I think everyone posting either is or has been a fan of this show. Plenty of people aren’t happy with some of the things the ‘powers that be’ have done. Those opinions and comments are just as valid as yours.
Thank you. I’m kind of amazed at how many of these comments are from the same two trufans trying to shut down opinions they don’t approve of. Which, when you consider what the new and improved (and tendentious and dull, JMO) POI is about… is maybe a bit telling about who it appeals to.
Please don’t cancel this show. It is truly one of my favorites in the weekly lineup. I haven’t missed any! Agree with others that it has engaging characters that mesh well, and it would be a shame to lose it.
Keep POI!
Excellent program, we watch it every week. Last weeks episode was outstanding with Carter coming back in a cameo.
Please!!!!!! don’t cancel. I looked at your ratings and those last ones should not count as we have missed the later shows due to basketball games and thunderstorms in our area. Some areas could not connect so rating was low. We can’t control the local networks… and what they want to omit for local news. KY Wildcats & SIU had priority.
Please keep it going I watch every episode…
Always have always will..
Long Live The Machine…
Go get them gang. See ya next week….
Please keep it going I watch every episode…
My family and i used to love this show very much,
but they have turned it into a terrible nightmare.
This definetely will be our last season of Person of Interest.
Long live POI. I hope the network listen to us.
I admire and enjoy Caviezel, Emerson, Chapman, Shahi and the characters they play (in addition to being a fan of Henson/Carter while she was on the show). For this reason, I would love to continue to have the privilege of watching them perform for more seasons. There is enough of the original premise left and most of the incredible cast to keep me watching, although I can see how that is not the case for others. My wish would be that the show hasn’t been unalterably written into a corner and with some creativity and hard work it could evolve… Read more »
This is a great show, please keep going with it.
My whole family loves Person of Interest, we
Pray that it doesn’t get cancelled! It will be
A big loss… we have already lost so many shows
Hope we don’t get this taken away also!
Person of Interest is absolutely one of the best shows I’ve seen on network television. The story lines are truly engaging, with surprises throughout- chemistry is excellent between actors and I love the fact that the underlying pitch is for good to triumph – if it leaves the line-up television will have lost one of the more creatively done dramas ever!
Couldn’t agree with you more.
Well said, Debbi, it’s so refreshing to read your input and the positive feedback that has been communicated. I’m fascinated by the series and while not a sci-fi fan or one seeks the macabre of violence I’m drawn to the episodes like a magnet. Let’s all hope there are enough folks like us who still enjoy the series to justify a season 5. I hope the Core 4 will continue to work their magic – for me that’s Reese, Finch, Lionel & Root.
“Core 4” refers to the original actors, at least that’s the only way I’ve ever seen it used within the fandom. That would be Reese, Carter, Finch, and Fusco. Please do not try to change the meaning of the term. Make up another one if you’d like please, but Rott’s not core 4 and neither is shaw.
Thank you for saying that. The Core Four is the people that were there in episode 1 onward – Reese, Finch, Fusco, and Carter. Carter leaving and adding Root or Shaw does not make it the Core Four. It’s just called Team Machine.
For a change the company has a series that keeps the interest of the viewer for the full program and now you wish to cancel. I guess there is no common sense at the top management level.
Troy I couldn’t agree with you more. If or when it gets cancelled it will be a great loss to tv. One of the best in a long, long time.
Love the show. Have a great cast. Please don’t cancel.
Person of Interest is a great show with a wonder cast! I pray we don’t lose it!
