Last season, Person of Interest moved to Tuesday nights and lost Taraji P. Henson. The show also lost a lot in the ratings. Will the numbers continue to fall or will they rise with a new lead-in? Is it essentially guaranteed to be renewed for a fifth season by CBS (because of syndication) or, could it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: Person of Interest has been renewed for a fifth season on CBS. Will it be the end?
Final season averages: 1.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.42 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The third season of Person of Interest averaged a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.83 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Person of Interest TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a fifth season?
POI is the best show ever. It’s very original. How many CSI shows do we need on TV. They all have the same concept, same story lines, just a different city and different characters . The average person could always see what’s going to happen. Mindless. On POI you never know what’s coming. It evolved, shows should do that, keeps the person on edge. And don’t get me started on the reality shows, also mindless. With all the fighting, cursing and backstabbing. Who cares. And the soap opera shows, who’s sleeping with who, just plain stupid. I don’t watch much… Read more »
They should renew it! best thing to of come out of the USA since Breaking Bad
i love it just started here in the uk its awesome
One of the few shows on TV that I do not miss. As far as I am concerned, it is one of the best shows on TV.
Best show ever…love all the characters, good or bad…Please bring back Shaw.
please don’t cancel person of interest. I absolutely love and follow every episode of the show, it’s my highlight every Tuesday when there’s a new episode, it’s what I look forward to when I get home from work. I love the intrigue of it all and I have come to love the characters as well.
I love PoI! It’s such a smart show! Also, I ship #Shoot and I want to see a happy ending for them. They so deserve it! So I hope it gets renewed. *fingers crossed*
I am from England UK and we love this programme and can’t wait for next episode!!!
Please don’t cancel this programme its far too good to cancel. PLEASE KEEP MAKING SOME NEW SERIES. – Notice the plural for MORE SERIES!! PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE!!!
I really enjoy Person of Interest, it makes you think. I would like to know why CBS does nothing to promote it? I hope it gets renewed for many more seasons. I agree what happened to the other writers.
My husband and I love Person of Interest. One of the few shows we watch together regularly. We are always disappointed when there is a rerun or pre-empt. Please keep it going. Changes can be a little confusing, but it is still very interesting.
I truly enjoy watching this TV show and hope that CBS renews it for many more seasons. It’s intelligent, action-packed, has a quirky sense of humor, and depicts a group of people seeking redemption through protecting people. What a terrific combination and what a great cast.
I truly enjoy this show and certainly hope that it will be renewed for many more seasons to come. It’s intelligent, action packed, has a quirky sense of humor and is centered around a group of people finding redemption through protecting others. Doesn’t get any better!
Let me add this to my previous post about the “poor” writing in Season 4. The Person of Interest writers INDEED have changed this Season and i wonder why? Did CBS cut the costs for the scripts or what?? I think the change they made WAS not for the better. Tell me where are the writers of Season 1 – 3? Where are: 1) Nic van Zeebroeck/Micheal Sopczynski who wrote: The Fix, High Road, Booked Solid, Endgame and RAM 2) Sean Hennen who wrote: Risk, Foe, Critical, Proteus, Perfect Mark, Provenance, BETA (co writer) 3) Patrick Harbinson who wrote: Number… Read more »
I think maybe when Johan Nolan decided to tear the show apart they started saying goodbye to those writing assignments. Maybe they all moved on to something better, like David Slack. That would be my guess.
Jonah
i certainly hope they continue this show. Few shows are about people caring to make the world a better place and help people that normally would just be lost in a group considered non-important. I never miss this show and record it to re watch over again. The deify part of a machine just adds intrig.
See, that’s a big part of my problem with “POI: Reboot” — it stopped being about helping ordinary people – “people like you”, remember? — and started being about the AI’s. It stopped being about two broken men trying to help the world be better by helping the irrelevants and became this big sci-fi story where the characters were bent into unrecognizable new shapes to fit the story. (Looking at GoodRoot, for example.) They don’t even bother with that introduction any more, because that’s not what the show’s about. Yes, I get that shows change and evolve, but this is… Read more »
Look between the lines, its still about irrelevant people just not 1 number. Its about a billion irrelevants. If the team doesn’t stop Samaritan it will affect the world of innocent lives.
Yes, yes … but the whole Samaritan storyline was an unnecessary detour in the original story line. It took the focus away from one ordinary person who needed help against the big powers of the world and made it about the billions. This show is no longer about people, either the irrelevants not the Core Four characters we knew and loved. That’s why so many have stopped watching, and why so many who remain are angry.
four people are going to save the world? yeah right/ and you can;t see this for the stupid story line that it is?
nemo f … first one must understand this is a TV program meant for enjoyment, not fact! It is an enjoyable and fascinating show for those of us that like it. I am certain one can always find hecklers that don’t enjoy something and therefore feel no one else should either. But that’s the great part about free choice. What is sad here is TV viewing comes at a price and it is limited to the calls they make to people for ratings. They divide them into groups of ages, family size etc. With the new invention of DVR’s it… Read more »
Yes, yes that’s what is called TV. Anything’s possible. Great show, keeps viewers on edge.
My two cents on Person of Interest The show is not about 4 people trying to save the world, the main characters are chess pieces in a big game between super heavyweights, one of which is God. And by God I mean… God. Even root is just an avatar — or the queen if you will. The Machine transcends space and time, is all knowing, but not very powerful on her own. That is why she needs chess pieces to do her work. Lost tried to do a similar story line but I think PoI is much better job. Jacob… Read more »
This is one of the smartest shows on TV. The characters are great and the plots are interesting. Please push to keep it on. Thanks.
I’m so tired of this show. They really should end it, because it only will get worse.
Have you noticed that all the remaining “good” writers have either left the show or are planning to leave, while the new team of writers didn’t really “feel” the show. Look for example what Ashley Gable has done to the show……oh lord they really should keep her miles away from Person of Interest!!!!
I bet if there is a Season 5 then it’s going to be a real disaster, because the showrunners have no clue what “their” audience want!!!
THIS show is one of the best ever – always throwing in a surprise and it would be a BIG mistake to end it! Don’t know who “anonymous is, but I WILL be checking out her claims of the writers leaving……
The way I see it is if you don’t enjoy it anymore, then stop watching it. But why ask them to end something that others really enjoy. You are being forced to watch it are you? I love the show and would miss it if they ended it.
How do you know anonymous is a ‘her’? I’ve heard about writers leaving too, but I’ve never checked to see if that was the case. All I knew was that the quality of the episodes severely decreased and that was enough for me.
