Though the ratings have fallen quite a bit, CBS renewed Person of Interest for a fifth season. Now we’ve learned that the TV show may be ending.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
Deadline reports that, of the CBS shows that have been renewed, POI was the only one to not receive a full season order. At this point, season five will only have 13 episodes.
This is just what happened with The Mentalist a year ago — a series that was also produced by outside studio Warner Bros TV. It was rumored to be that show’s final season many months before the network would confirm it. With this short season renewal, it’s looking like history may repeat itself with POI.
If CBS does indeed cancel POI, the studio could potentially try to find another home for it. While the network doesn’t have a financial stake in the series, the studio does. By the end of next season, there will be 103 episodes — enough for a decent-sized syndication package.
It’s worth noting that the studio already has an off-network deal with WGN America for the series. That cable channel has been producing their own dramas Salem and Manhattan. The ratings have been very tiny for those shows but perhaps WGN could be an option to keep Person of Interest going.
What do you think? Should season five be the end for Person of Interest? Would you watch a sixth season on another channel?
the best on tv I love the story lines it should not end that would be to soon
i would watch season 6 on another channel
I would also and so would my husband.
I too hate reality TV. Survivor could blow up for all I care. That show and Big Brother is a waste of TV time. Yes, I would watch Person of Interest on another network. AND I will be watching it on CBS until the end.
One of my families favorite shows. If CBS drops the show, I would gladly follow it to another network, providing I can get it on DirecTV. I wonder, is there any kind of intelligence test to be a network executive? Or is it just make-work for the intellectually challenged?
Please, please don’t cancel POI ! So much of what’s on is trash! This is actually a good, quality show! I can’t stand reality TV! Some of the comedies are SMUT! I love POI!!!!!
I agree Survivor and Big Brother are pure garbage and their comedies with the exception of a few are suggestive and smutty. The programming executives are out of their mind when it comes to choosing what is appropriate, intelligent, and entertaining programs.
This is my number 1 show on Network TV or any TV for that matter. I have followed it religiously since season one. I would hate to see it go as this show and the original NCIS are the 2 best shows on CBS or any network for that matter. You don’t have to ask me twice, I would follow it to another station, cable or network…. CBS would lose me at 10 pm every Tuesday for sure! Note to the producer… I would like to see POI revert more to what it was back in season one.
I love this show! My absolute favorite! It’s the one show I never miss. I will watch it no matter which network ends up with it and I hope it is given another chance!
I would definitely watch many more seasons of Person of Interest. It is an awesome show. What the show needs is a better time slot and day given. CBS has too many shows coming out taking away the attention of POI. The cast of POI are very talented. I would watch the show whatever network it is shown on. A big mistake will be made to cancel or discontinue the show. The show must go on!
I happen to love the show and am extremely disappointed that CBS has decided to cancel it. I would absolutely watch it on another channel and it would serve CBS right if the ratinga on the new channel were sky high. Other than the NCIS shows, which are my favorite, I think it’s the best show on their network. I’m even disappointed that it hasn’t been airing reruns at all between seasons this summer.
Please don’t canceled the show. It keeps you on your toes.
First,I would love to see POI continue. Second if it was on something other than CBS that would be fine with me. Reason being CBS has blocked it’s channel from On Demand (please note I have wow cable so I can’t speak for the other cable companies.) I missed a few of the last episodes do to work and never got a chance to see the end of last season. I suppose I could buy them from one of those sites that offer them for $1.99 but since I already pay for cable I should be able to have them… Read more »
They need to end Samaritan and go back to the roots of the show. I want entertainment, not heavy conspiracy. We have the news for that.
I think Samaritan is intriguing. It is probably not far off before AI ( artificial intelligence) is developed. Is the result going to be Samaritan or worse Skynet? All the publicity about NSA intelligence gathering of phone records and emails broke after POI began airing. POI is truly an innovative series whose writers have predicted future developments. After CBS cancels POI I am ready to quit watching CBS.
This is the second best show on TV after the original NCIS. Don’t cancel this show. I watch NO fantasy TV and CBS and CBS has too many of those. The gang of POI have a great clique.
We love this show and would hate to see it go
I love the show…..and usually watch the episode twice..once at7 and then again at 4 in the morning…
There is not much out there to warrant a following by me….I hate reality TV shows..
Good story lines like POI are getting scarce…
Please don’t end the series.
