NBC has been promoting Persons Unknown as a mini-series and that the show’s mysteries will be answered by the end. The show has not performed well in the ratings so hopefully the network will let all 13 episodes air.
If they do pull the series early, the show is scheduled to be put out on DVD. According to Amazon, it’s scheduled for an August 31st release but that’s likely to change because NBC won’t have aired all of the episodes until early September.
Some readers have noticed that the DVD set is titled Persons Unknown: The Complete First Season. Why? Because, though NBC has promoted it as a mini-series, Persons Unknown could continue for a second season.
Executive Producer Remi Aubuchon recently told Collider that, when they were shooting it, they did so believing it would be an on-going series. Though they wanted it to go on, he made sure that they answered all of the questions by the end of the first season, to make it a satisfying story for viewers.
Could there be another season? Aubuchon said, “It’s not unheard of, in the course of life, that if there’s enough interest in it, we could consider going a second season or doing another chapter. I keep looking at it as books in a series, and this season is the first book. I feel confident that we will have a beginning, middle and end, in this season, and it was wise of NBC to then call it what it really is, which is a mini-series.”
He continued, “24 is a really good example, in that there was a definitive beginning, middle and end for the first season. They had a slightly different format than we have, but the second season just retained Jack Bauer and a few other players, with the same basic format and idea, but it was a completely different show. I’m not saying that that’s exactly where we’re going, but certainly I think that there’s room for saying, ‘Hey, look, we told one story of a continuing saga.’ You should be able to pick this book up and get to the last line of the season and go, ‘Wow! Well, I hope there’s a second season, but at least I feel satisfied that I got to see all of this. They answered it all for me.”
Unfortunately, it looks unlikely that NBC would be interested in another season but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t return on another channel or in another form.
What do you think? Would you like to see Persons Unknown continue in some way?
If you guys are economically, financially, enterprenuerily and most of all sanely mature, you will make sure a season 2 of persons unknown surfaces soon. Otherwise I will travel 1000miles from Kenya (Africa) to NBC studios and join the boycoat of the million other funs out there.
best show bring it back
BRING ANOTHER SEASON!!! People are getting mad that NBC always leaves GREAT shows (Like Persons Unknown) just sitting there like its useless when they could get a lot more fans and ratings off of it! But don’t get me started on the cliffhangers, One that I got angry about the most was on the last episode when Bill somehow knew Charlie’s wifes name (her name is Charlotte) that made me think if he was part of “The Program”!
OH MY BAD my son and i love this show please have a season2.
please make a season 2 i son and i love this show.
I say bring on a season 2!
The end of the first season left a perfect cliff hanger to start from in the next season.
YES YES YES CONTINUE THIS MINI SERIES!!
What are you kidding me?!?! I’ve seen alll of Lost and allll of 24 (my favorite to shows ever!!!) But just from ONE season of this show, Persons Unknown, I am more hooked to it more than any other show EVER!!!! Please make another season of persons unknown!

Definitely the worst finale EVER! We ended up with no idea about the purpose of the program and a feeling of hopelessness. No matter what, they end up either dead or back in the program, whatever that is. And the last straw was the middle-of-the-sea level 2, aboard a ship named ALMAS PERDIDAS (i.e. LOST SOULS). Gimme a break!

The series was a total waste of my time. 10 hours of my life i will never get back. This was the most morbit series ever. Really the worst ending ever. It’s wasn’t worth it, having watched those people try, tr and try to get out and when the finall do they just end up back where they started. Who cares if th questions are answered. There’s nothing satisfying about seeing a hamster running around in circles in the same damn cage. It’s boring and frustrating. And my final point is the unrealistic plot. If an normal person was being… Read more »
If NBC does not make a season 2 then I am boycoting the network. End transmition
I completely agree with Melissa. None of my questions were answered. The way they left the finale made it look like there was going to be a second season. We still don’t no how Janet’s mother is involved in “The program” and how Tori is involved too(and the fact that shes not dead!).
PLEASE BRING THIS SHOW BACK ASAP!!!!!!!!!!! NBC is going down fast and the reason for that is because they’re losing alot of good shows and not bringing back the few shows are attracting millions of viewers. You can’t claim that you answered everything when you leave half of the people on a ship, at the hotel, and the girl in a cage with Tori’s dad in another cage…how is that answering anything at all?!?!?! The only 2 shows on NBC that I currently watch is Biggest Loser and SVU. NBC, take this as a wake up call, you are losing… Read more »
