NBC has been promoting Persons Unknown as a mini-series and that the show’s mysteries will be answered by the end. The show has not performed well in the ratings so hopefully the network will let all 13 episodes air.
If they do pull the series early, the show is scheduled to be put out on DVD. According to Amazon, it’s scheduled for an August 31st release but that’s likely to change because NBC won’t have aired all of the episodes until early September.
Some readers have noticed that the DVD set is titled Persons Unknown: The Complete First Season
Executive Producer Remi Aubuchon recently told Collider that, when they were shooting it, they did so believing it would be an on-going series. Though they wanted it to go on, he made sure that they answered all of the questions by the end of the first season, to make it a satisfying story for viewers.
Could there be another season? Aubuchon said, “It’s not unheard of, in the course of life, that if there’s enough interest in it, we could consider going a second season or doing another chapter. I keep looking at it as books in a series, and this season is the first book. I feel confident that we will have a beginning, middle and end, in this season, and it was wise of NBC to then call it what it really is, which is a mini-series.”
He continued, “24 is a really good example, in that there was a definitive beginning, middle and end for the first season. They had a slightly different format than we have, but the second season just retained Jack Bauer and a few other players, with the same basic format and idea, but it was a completely different show. I’m not saying that that’s exactly where we’re going, but certainly I think that there’s room for saying, ‘Hey, look, we told one story of a continuing saga.’ You should be able to pick this book up and get to the last line of the season and go, ‘Wow! Well, I hope there’s a second season, but at least I feel satisfied that I got to see all of this. They answered it all for me.”
Unfortunately, it looks unlikely that NBC would be interested in another season but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t return on another channel or in another form.

I started watching it last summer…I watched the second episode by mistake …I think I thought it was a movie or something. When I realized it was a series…I got upset because I was addicted after that episode, so I immediately went online to try and find the first episode I missed and watched the rest religiously. Pleeeease air the second season…I have never forgotten about it and I really want to see what happens!!
It was such a great show. The way it ended last season opened it up for so many possiblities. Me and my friends would get togehter on Saturday nights just to watch this show. Please bring it back!!
Yes, we need a second season. I’m already waiting impatiently and it season 2 may not happen. I am addicted. Please continue this edge of your seat series.
Hey I’m from Romania and I saw the show and it has made a huge impresion t me and my friends and their familyes and their family’s friends and so on…….. o pls do us a favor and continue with the season 2 cause 1st season was one of the greatest serial movie i saw in many years. I would like to see what happenes on that boat 😀 LVL 2 has begun. ty
I just watched this series on Netflix as well!! I have to admit, I have not been as addicted to a show since Lost and 24!
I love this series and i wish it didn’t end this way!! i was wanting to watch all 13 without even stopping it for a break!! i LOVE THIS I WANT IT TO KEEP GOING!!!!

I LOVED this show!!! I don’t understand ALL the poor ratings compared to other shows that were worst (not saying Persons’ Unknown was). I was going to be EXTREMELY upset if I wasn’t able to see the last few programs on NBC. I was literally going to write NBC if they cancelled the show and gather thousands of positive people that agreed to petition to keep the show playing like one individual did for “The Game” for B.E.T. I just finished the series on Netflix and I have to say, this is the best show I have ever watched. The storyline for this miniseries was amazing!! I think the show has become more popular now that the season is done and overwith. I don’t think the show had enough publicity, because I never heard of it until I seen it on Netflix, same as most people who are now hooked on the show. I have been waiting so long to see a preview of the next season but im not seeing any! I fricken loved this show last summer, i would constantly be on demand checking if the next episode was available. at first when i started watching the first episode my sisters were like, what the hell are you watching? cause it was the scene where they are cutting the chip things out of the people’s legs, and they thought i was watching a hella weird psycho show. but after continuing to watch it, i ended up getting them hooked on it… Read more »
