This is a great show – don’t cancel it! I’m getting pretty tired of the networks jerking the viewing audience around the way they do. They hit us with a glut of new shows, and then against my better judgment I get hooked to a bunch, and then they cancel them. Then the networks act surprised when people don’t want to invest their time or emotions in a new show; it’s their own darn fault as they are impatient and greedy. In addition, if other people are anything like me, I almost never watch TV live, I DVR everything – so maybe that doesn’t count in the ratings? Unfortunately, I , unlike most people, have not succumbed to the crystal meth of the entertainment world (reality TV) so I keep giving the networks another shot each year when the new series come out. I just wish they’d give us the same courtesy instead of expecting miracles right out of the gate.
You spend a lot of time and research trying to gain audience and had this 18-34 year old male who rarely watches programming hooked with this new series. Not sure you can classify 6 episodes as a series, but it is a delightful show that takes a lot of liberty with the view of the workings of a large law firm in Los Angeles; however, I find it to be very entertaining. It is disappointing that this show has been cancelled so quickly without giving it a chance to find its audience. This quick termination only reinforces my view that it is a waste of time to get invested with new shows as they are dispensed like cannon fodder.
DO the right thing and give this show a chance beyond the six episodes. I think that you will find that it will payoff and be a profitable choice.
It’s really sad how little time a show gets to impress us these days! I picked up watching this on hulu around the time episode 6 was airing and LOVED it! Unfortunately, there’s a lot of programming waring for our attention, so we need a little time to explore a new show and decide that it’s worthy of our time, our DVR space, etc… A mere 6 episodes just isn’t enough to really get an idea of where a show will land in the new media market!
And I get that networks only want to count the platforms where there’s a significant revenue stream from advertising, but the landscape is changing dramatically and the networks and advertisers are well aware they have to change with it – don’t punish fledgling shows because the methods of generating revenue aren’t keeping up with the times! Also, expand your research methods – Nielsen is tried and true, and definitely trying to current, but there are some really innovative media measurement companies out there – try checking one out every now and then for kicks!
I love the Deep End. The characters are real, talented, beautiful, and all have a sense of humor. I really like this show and watched it every week. Keep it on! Thanks!
I actually just started watching this show while on my spring break. And immediately fell in love and vowed to start watching it when it comes back on. BUT now I’m seeing all over the internet that it is canceled/is going to be canceled?! Even though the ratings haven’t been as high as you wanted them to, only airing 6 episodes is definitely not enough time for a buzz to be going for the show. It’s smart, witty, and actually has some depth unlike some of the other stuff on tv now. Bring it back! PLEASE!!
This is one of my favorite new shows of the season, I would be so sad to see it go already! Tina Majorino is beyond adorable and Norbert Leo Butz is fantastic and severely underused. A very upbeat and optimistic show, it really brightened up my weeks.
I <3 The Deep End!!!
Please don’t cancel The Deep End! It’s one of the few shows on tv that I actually enjoy these days. And, actually, the only show I watch on ABC.

Don’t cancel the show. We love it!!
You guys are idiots for cancelling this show and obviously have no clue as to why the ratings are not as good as you would like them to be.
Air them on ABC.COM…you’ll see how popular this show really is.
