Tonight marks the season finale of the Proof TV show on TNT. Will this series that’s focused on death manage to stay alive and see a second season? Should this drama be cancelled instead?
On Proof, Doctor Carolyn “Cat” Tyler (Jennifer Beals) recently lost her son, saw her marriage end, and become estranged to her teenage daughter. Cat is persuaded by cancer-stricken billionaire Ivan Turing (Matthew Modine) to search for evidence that death is not the end and this takes her on a deeply personal and emotional journey. The rest of the cast includes David Sutcliffe, Joe Morton, Edi Gathegi, Caroline Rose Kaplan, Callum Blue, and Annie Thurman.
The series debuted on June 16th with a 0.37 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.66 million viewers. It was a pretty mediocre start for a TNT series. The ratings dwindled downward over the course of the season though they saw a nice bump upward last week.
The season is currently averaging a 0.31 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.12 million viewers. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series in the demo and is in the middle of the pack in viewership.
With ratings like these, the cable channel could go either way. It could easily be canceled or renewed. If the finale does particularly well, those ratings coupled with last week’s numbers might be enough to tip the scale towards a renewal. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

I say continue this show for another season. Booth my wife and I watched it weekly and found it to be very interesting. I doubt if the mystery of life after death can be really answered by the living, the concept is certainly intriguing.
Please bring Proof back for Season 2 itsban awese show & it really does make you think about whats on the other side! Ill be so excited for season 2….bring it back!
Please don’t cancel this show. I really like it and the topic is of much interest to me. I would love to see more near death experiences for more characters on the show and each one investigated further. I think this show should use examples of near death experiences that happened to people in real life. That would be so interesting to know that you are using real cases. This is a good show! Such a nice change from all those silly reality shows out there!
I really would like to see the show continued for many reasons, one of a personal nature. I have recently lost my brother to cancer and it allows me to grieve in a different way. Each situation on the show is unique and has meaning to one or more people not just for the afterlife. Please keep it going. 🙂
What I love about TNT is that it doesn’t provide the same old fare as the networks. Proof is proof. It is different, intriguing and well-acted. Please keep it going.

Please don’t cancel this show! This is one of the most intriguing and phenomenal series I’ve ever watched in my life! Absolutely amazing. Definitely should be renewed! Please allow a season 2. Sometimes it takes people awhile to discover new shows. Lost of people work during the air time, such as myself. One more chance please!
This show is awesome! I love keeping up with it. One may look at Prison Break and wonder how they could last so many seasons and still wonder “have they broken out yet?” This show is moving along just fine!

While I enjoy Proof, I wish they’d get on with it and quit faring around with unimportant things. Let’s move this story along faster.
Please do not cancel this show. The story is very played out and makes you think about what happens when you die. I have often thought this can’t be the end of it. The casting is superb! To the TV gods, please bring this series back!
