The team members on the Pure Genius TV show work together to save lives. It’s a noble cause but will their stories attract enough viewers to bring big ratings? Will this new CBS TV series be cut down in its prime (cancelled) or, will it be renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
Pure Genius follows top medical professionals as they team up with cutting-edge tech experts and try to push the boundaries of modern medicine to save lives. Doctor Walter Wallace (Dermot Mulroney) is a disgraced but brilliant surgeon who is recruited by a young Silicon Valley tech billionaire, James Bell (Augustus Prew). Wallace learns that Bell is harboring a secret and he begins to question just what the young founder is really trying to achieve. Others on the team are played by Odette Annable, Reshma Shetty, Aaron Jennings, Ward Horton, and Brenda Song.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Pure Genius TV show on CBS? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season two?
5/15/17 update: CBS has cancelled Pure Genius after one season. Details here.
Please renew! My friends and I love it!
Please renew Pure Genius! It’s the conversation topic of our coffee group! We all love it!
Pure Genius is genius. Please keep it going. We have enough murder mystery type shows. This one has a lot of depth without being medical speak. It harkins back to a combination of Dr. Quinn meets ER. Both shows were on the air for many years. Give this one another chance not to mention you left us hanging. My mom and mother-in-law for hooked too.
Yes ! It should continue for sure !
It’s one of the best ” medical” tv series with compassion and such futuristic medical research that I’m sure will happen in years to come … please keep it going !
I think it should be renewed.
My daughter and I love this show. I will be so disappointed if it cancels. It’s riveting, exciting and smart. Please don’t cancel it. Best show in years.
Keep the show on. The medical issues, diagnosis and procedures were interesting. It was nice to see a glimpse into the future of medicine. Characters faced real life issues when dealing with certain illnesses and it was HOPEFUL. PLEASE keep it on.
We look forward to the show each week. Bring it back. You can’t leave us hanging on how you needed the last episodes.
Pure Genius is a great show. It is heart felt and deals with real issues. I will be VERY disappointed if it is cancelled. I am so sick of great shows being cancelled while so many so called “reality” shows are still on. Cancelling this show will just add to my diminishing like of network television. With so much hate and distruction going on in the world it is refreshing to see hope. This show gives people hope. Please, please don not cancel it.
Please renew this series. Much more entertaining than reality shows or another show that centers on murder and violence.
I am deeply saddened that CNS would cancel such a progressive and interesting show. It is off the grid in comparison to the “carbon copy” shows competing on all the networks. The only difference in the shows are the characters. Be it a medical drama, or a crime drama. This one is truly different, it has a wonderful, interactive cast and a great plot.
Please do not cancel this show. It is innovative and enchanting…pure genius!
Truly enjoyed this show!. Want it back!
Pure Genius was well designed for an audience who believes that the medical future is now. Laced in with a mixed racial relationship and a billionaire who’s love for a Dr. Is not returned. The staff relationships not withstanding is only a fill in with the progressive medical solutions that appear to be very doable in modern day practice. Pure Genius elevated itself to be my No. One show. I see the ratings argument which may dictate not ordering additional episode but, I am a total believer, please continue the show.
I can’t believe his was canceled! This was my favorite show and looked forward to it every week. It was so much more than who’s doing what with whom and about the patients and what can be done when the red tape is removed and the right people are working together the accomplishments that can be done. If patients can be treated as a whole person ain real life as they did in this show, so much healing would be happening. I know it’s only a show but I am sad and annoyed to see it go!
