Heralded as Sarah Michelle Gellar’s return to television, Ringer couldn’t hold onto its audience. The show’s been cancelled after one season and 22 episodes.
As Ringer begins, we meet Bridget (Gellar), a former stripper and recovering alcoholic who’s witnessed a murder and goes to stay with her estranged twin sister Siobhan (also Gellar). Her sister disappears so Bridget takes Siobhan’s place and soon realizes that her sister’s life was more complicated than her own. The TV series also features the talents of Nestor Carbonell, Ioan Gruffudd, Mike Colter, Tara Summers, Kristoffer Polaha, Zoey Deutch, Justin Bruening, Billy Miller, Jason Dohring, Nicole Anderson, and Gage Golightly.
Considering the amount of promotion that The CW put behind it, Ringer’s premiere had to viewed as a bit of a disappointment. It registered a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.84 million total viewers.

In week two, the demo dropped a whopping 25% to a 0.9 rating with 1.94 million. Week thee remained stable but week four plunged 33%.
Over the course of the season, the ratings fluctuated but also dwindled downward. They fell as low as a 0.4 rating (several times) with as few as 1.05 million viewers.
With very few hours of primetime real estate to fill, it just didn’t make sense for The CW to renew Ringer for a second season. They’ve cancelled the show and the last episode aired on April 17th. Since it wasn’t expected to be a series finale, several storylines were left up in the air.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that Ringer has been cancelled and won’t be returning for season two? Why do you think the ratings declined? Was it too hard to follow or just not interesting enough?

So sad it was cancelled, come on people, it was new show that you just had to give a chance, sure the first couple episodes we should i say “unsure” but if you watched every Tuesday you understood everything that was going on and it was really good, the twist and turns I thought you excellent, most of the twists that happened were just flawless and kept me wanting more so every Tuesday I watched and I am very upset of the fact that I will never know what happens.
I thought it was great. It had a good storyline and it always kept you guessing which is a thing that I like in a TV series because you wonder for the whole week what will happen that week. I am bummed it got canceled. It was a stupid decision.
I am very disappointed the they cancelled Ringer. This show was so thrilling to watch. I just can’t believe it. And Sarah Michelle Gellar, thanks for the comeback. I have waited patiently and was rewarded. RINGER ROCKS!!!!!!
Putting it on tuesday opposite NCIS LA. Was a mistake. I loved ringer as well as many of my friends, but as I did they recorded it with dvrs while watching NCIS or vica versa. Ringer was well written with a few flat spots as all shows do. If it had been placed were a less popular program that has a following was opposite It would have done better. Re consider canceling.
I say Ringer was a stupid show and I’m over the moon that it had been cancelled, very depressing to watch as well!! The CW made the right choice and renewed all of the good shows I enjoy watching.
I really enjoyed Ringer. I wish they would reconsider because the show is well written and great to watch!!
HOW can they cancel with the story lines hanging? At the very least, Ringer should come back as a two hour special to wrap it all up.
i strongly agree i was always on the edge of my seat not knowing what was coming next not like otyher shows being so predictable
Ringer was one of few shows i really looked up to watching and got all excited about. i recommended to all my frnds and they started watching too! i loved the twists and the story line is so well written and not at all ambiguous! i’m really really disappointed and upset, they cancel shows that are smart like this one and leave the fashion and sex show-off teenagery shows that we’re all sick of and had enough of for a life time. at least give us an ending
are u serious.. ringer is the best show that happened to the cw.. cw is krazi for letting it go… and watch the garbage shows they keep on the network
The Ringer took too long to get the bad guys, it couldn’t have gone on much longer, not likable enough characters but it would have been nice to get to and ending point!
[…] TV show dates: September 13, 2011 – April 17, 2012 Series status: Cancelled […]
Ringer was a show I looked forward to watching every week because I never saw the plot twists coming. In fact, all of the shows I liked have been cancelled and garbage has been renewed. I also enjoyed Awake which they cancelled. At least the ended the season with a series finale so we were not left hanging. Pan Am was a great show as well.
Ringer was one of the best written shows on TV. Drama, susoence and extremely well written with incredible actors. I am so sad that the WB has decided to keep smut verses real actors. Well I am done witn you WB, the best thing you’vedone is employ Sarah Michelle Gellar, an amazing actress.
I really liked Ringer. I’m really getting upset that they cancel shows in thew middle of story lines. It’s like reading a book just to find there are blank pages in the second half. There should be a rule: If you want to cancel a show, you have to allow the writers to have a chance to resolve the story line. Many other shows I like were cancelled, too, and it’s making me really mad. Totally disrespecting the audience, which is their customer!!
I only watch two shows on TV and Ringer was one of them… I really looked forward to the next season to tie up all those loose ends they left us with. Please bring it back! Just a couple more episodes to end it better! 🙁
