Talk about a letdown. The Rise TV show has been cancelled after just one season on NBC. The high school drama from Jason Katims, who knows a thing or two about shows like that, premiered on the Peacock Network on March 13, of 2018. Ratings for the first two episodes were good enough, but the series just couldn’t sustain its performance in the Nielsens, thereafter.
An NBC musical drama, Rise stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli’i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey W. Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett, and Shirley Rumierk. The series centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to Lou Volpe in the Michael Sokolov book, Drama High. Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he signed up for a whole lot more than he originally expected.

Outstanding series of small town struggles, real characters and the issues they face and the safe, safe place to be yourself …in theater. From a lifelong theater family with college grads in theater ..phenomenal!

Many emotions and touches on so many issues going on in our world today. Something I could watch w my teenage daughter and enjoy and discuss. It’s a mistake to cancel!
Please reconsider, this was our favorite new show, it was just getting addicting and you cancel? It didn’t get a fair chance, this show was real and gave my family the feels!

Please renew this show and bring it back for season 2. It’s an amazing show that won the heart of my dad and me. I’m going through an ugly divorce and custody battle and this show gave me hope, as well as great entertainment. NBC is crazy to not renew it.

I am so, so sad that this show is being cancelled!!It is powerful, moving, and beautiful. It shows the struggles within families and the challenges within the theater world. It also show how musical theater can be transformative! I hope this show will be picked up by another network!!!
