Talk about a letdown. The Rise TV show has been cancelled after just one season on NBC. The high school drama from Jason Katims, who knows a thing or two about shows like that, premiered on the Peacock Network on March 13, of 2018. Ratings for the first two episodes were good enough, but the series just couldn’t sustain its performance in the Nielsens, thereafter.
An NBC musical drama, Rise stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli’i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey W. Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett, and Shirley Rumierk. The series centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to Lou Volpe in the Michael Sokolov book, Drama High. Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he signed up for a whole lot more than he originally expected.

I hope Rise is renewed watched it from the beginning. Cried along the way. The finale was so good I wanted it to last longer. I was looking forward to next season
Please reconsider. This show has good music, good characters, good acting, deals with important issues. Please let it continue.
I loved this show. It was so REAL, especially compared to most TV series out. After finishing the season finale, I immediately started googling when season two was coming out and came across this thread. Is there any way they would change their mind, or have some one else pick it up? I hate to see such amazing character building go and all of the cliff hangers go to waste.
I am disappointed and discourged that this show was cancelled. Finally a show that was not full of sci-fi, violence, guns, drugs and politics etc. I really hope the reconsider
Saddened to see this show cancelled. Watched every week. One of the few shows I enjoyed! I feel networks need to stop cancelling shows so quickly and give viewers time to become interested.

Why the hell do you always cancel quality shows and let shows like Roseanne come back and be horrible and low rent AGAIN?

A show m husband and I watched together and thouroghly enjoyed! So bummed it was cancelled. All my friends watched it too. Can’t believe e it didn’t have staying power!!! Please come back!!
I haven’t watched a weekly TV series in YEARS. I loved this show from the get go, and was so sorry to see it’s been cancelled.
Truly a shame. This was perhaps the finest drama series on broadcast TV. In many respects it reminded me of Friday Night Lights. Contemporary social issues in a high school setting, skillful written, acted, and filmed. There’s so much crap on TV, yet Rise gets cancelled. I realize it’s a business and the low ratings seem to justify the cancellation, but it might be worth renewing for a second season and perhaps adding a big name young actor to draw younger audiences.
This show is the best thing since Lost & Friday NightLights. This is the first series we’ve watched since Friday Night Lights…I cant believe they cancel such a well-written and performed show and leave the repetitive crap of CSI/Law and Order on instead. America was ready for a change.

What a disappointment to hear that Rise is being cancelled- beautiful show and nothing like it on T.V.- NBC- please realize that not every show can be in the vein of Law and Order or NCIS. Not every show should be about solving a murder- then we wonder why our society looks the way it does. Do the right thing and renew this show deserving of a second chance.
So true. We are an older couple with married grandchildren and we thought it wss wonderful. Recommended it to our family, as a show for teens to watch with parents. Very sad to see it wont have a season two.
Please renew Rise! It’s an amazing show, I’m attached to it, it depicts reality so well and I need such shows in my life! The acting is incredible, and so is the plot!
