Lifetime has decided to cancel their original sitcom, Rita Rocks, after two seasons.
Rita Rocks revolves around an overworked wife and mother who tries to balance the many different aspects of her life, including being in a local rock band. The series stars Nicole Sullivan in the title role with Richard Ruccolo, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Natalie Dreyfuss, Kelly Gould, and Raviv Ullman rounding out the cast.
The show was initially ordered as a companion for reruns of Reba with an eye towards amassing enough episodes to run it five nights a week.
The series debuted in October of 2008 with a 20 episode season. In March 2009, Rita Rocks was renewed for a second season of 20 more installments.

JoAnn Alfano, executive VP for entertainment at Lifetime, said, “Rita Rocks is the first original comedy that Lifetime has launched in 10 years, so you can imagine how delighted we are to welcome it back for a second season. It’s smart, it’s funny, and it appeals to anyone who has ever tried to carve out a little time for herself.”
The second season kicked off in October but apparently wasn’t successful enough for Lifetime. The cable channel has opted not to renew Rita Rocks for a third season. The December 7th episode will end up serving as both the season and series finale.

I am very disappointed that Rita Rocks has been cancelled. I love Nicole Sullivan. She is so very funny. The show was great. I hope that it returns sometime in the future. RITA ALFANO

I can’t believe Lifetime canceled this show. There are no sitcoms anymore…its all these hour long dramas or reality shows. I was very excited about getting to watch another sitcom again…and a FUNNY one at that. It was one that my whole family could watch and we ALL would laugh!! Nicole and Tisha, the two of them together, were hilarious!

Come on! Seriously?! I mean, that is really good show, it is like other shows on Fox Life and there is no reason why would you stop it. It is the one of the best comedies ever!
Rita Rocks was a good family comedy perfect for the whole family. It was still hilarious though! How they could combine the two and still make it hilarious, I’ll never know.
Rita Rocks was so funny, I was looking forward to Season 3. Same thing happened with Reba. What does a person have to do to get a good/clean comedy?!

should have renewed it. there are hardly any shows you can watch with the family anymore and this was one of them. reality tv sucks and prime time is full of violence and sex. this show was refreshing because my 10 year old could watch it

Well i guess i will be watching hallmark channel for family shows i guess they will be taken off sherry soon to i love Rita waitng for monday nights want be the same i just hope u dont put something stupid on we need to laugh
