TV show description:
This police drama is based on the Rizzoli/Isles series of novels by Tess Gerritsen. The series revolves around a police detective and a medical examiner who, although they’re complete opposites, combine their talents to solve crimes in Boston.
Detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) has the mindset that the criminals she’s chasing are monsters. As a younger girl, with a housewife mom and plumber dad, she saw a police officer on career day at school and decided that was the job for her. She wanted the gun, the badge, and mostly the respect. She worked her way up from a beat patrolman to detective in vice and narcotics, then finally to the homicide unit. Her philosophy in tracking down the criminals is to make it personal — get angry and never give up.
By contrast, it wasn’t until her adult years that Dr. Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) figured out she wanted to become a forensic pathologist. She always knew she was different than the other kids and would hide in her room reading and dissecting dead mice. Aside from being a scholar, she was also an accomplished pianist and honor student. All of this led her to student medicine but, after medical school, she realized she wasn’t good at the emotions needed for treating living patients and switched to forensics.
Maura knows she doesn’t have much in common with the police she works with and knows that they call her “Queen of the Dead” behind her back. This includes Jane’s former and present partners. Jane’s former partner, Detective Vince Korsak (Bruce McGill), is very much her mentor. Korsak has always treated her like a daughter, and doesn’t get along well with her new partner, Detective Barry Frost (Lee Thompson Young). He’s great when it comes to anything that deals with technology, but gets sick at the sight of blood. Still, he’s just as loyal to Jane as Korsak.
Also very loyal is Angela Rizzoli (Lorraine Bracco), Jane’s mom. She’s the epitome of an Italian mother — somewhat overbearing and very protective of her cubs. She claims to have not slept since Jane became a cop and wishes she’d be a little more feminine. She’s not the only one in the family to feel this way about her, as her little brother Frankie (Jordan Bridges) feels very protective of his big sis. He’s trying to make his way up the police force ladder so also feels like he’s a little in her shadow.

I like the show and will miss not being able to watch it. It has two females in lead rolls with a lot of support persons.
Today’s episode audio was Spanish echo over English-language 06/02/2019 NBC 5 just awful..
I think that it should had a season 8
It was a real good show – it should of had 8 or more seasons….. Bring it back..
This show is absolutely awesome. A series that respected women for their intelligence. I love the dynamics between the different characters. Please please please return…..the cast and crew have so much to offer us as viewers!! (Have you seen what we need to watch these days rescue us please )
it was a good series, sad it was cancelled. i wish we could see more of the two lovely ladies
LOVED and MISS Rizzoli and Isles!
TNT must have changed their focus. The same goes for USA. Both channels had some great series and then for some reason they were cancelled. Burn Notice, Psych and Rizolli and Isles are just a few of them. I don’t watch these channels very much now. Their programs are stupid. Their programming had been for an adult audience that liked some humor along with a good script and great actors.
BRING IT BACK!!!! BEST SHOW EVER!!!
I love this show I watch the re-runs on t.v every Friday &Saturday nights! I wish it was still on !
Please Please bring Rizzoli &. Isles back, they are the best. I really really miss them.
I would absolutely love for this show to come back on…Their chemistry was so real, the stories of their lives outside of BPD were real life stories that everyone can relate to. Please, pleae bring it back!!! They were hilarious, smart, warm, witty.
I love this show and I’m so upset that it has been cancelled. I am so sick of the lousy stupid shows that continue on television and the ones that I get interested in and love get cancelled…such as Castle & Revenge to name a few. I have Dish and end up watching HGTV most of the time because there is nothing else to watch that interests me. I love Blue Bloods and Shades of Blue. Lets see how long before they cancel them.
this show should have gone on for years the working relationship between dect.&cor. was excellent not to mention the family twist with mom & bro. I went to HP.HS. several yrs. before Angie Never knew it till I started wondering about the show I use to see her dad once in awhile in HP shopping village and I waited on him when I worked for A local hardware store that use to be on Oak Lawn[Sharps] I’ll miss the show But if Angie gets this Good Luck Gal I wish you all the best showbiz has to offer HP class… Read more »
