TV show description:
This police drama is based on the Rizzoli/Isles series of novels by Tess Gerritsen. The series revolves around a police detective and a medical examiner who, although they’re complete opposites, combine their talents to solve crimes in Boston.
Detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) has the mindset that the criminals she’s chasing are monsters. As a younger girl, with a housewife mom and plumber dad, she saw a police officer on career day at school and decided that was the job for her. She wanted the gun, the badge, and mostly the respect. She worked her way up from a beat patrolman to detective in vice and narcotics, then finally to the homicide unit. Her philosophy in tracking down the criminals is to make it personal — get angry and never give up.
By contrast, it wasn’t until her adult years that Dr. Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) figured out she wanted to become a forensic pathologist. She always knew she was different than the other kids and would hide in her room reading and dissecting dead mice. Aside from being a scholar, she was also an accomplished pianist and honor student. All of this led her to student medicine but, after medical school, she realized she wasn’t good at the emotions needed for treating living patients and switched to forensics.
Maura knows she doesn’t have much in common with the police she works with and knows that they call her “Queen of the Dead” behind her back. This includes Jane’s former and present partners. Jane’s former partner, Detective Vince Korsak (Bruce McGill), is very much her mentor. Korsak has always treated her like a daughter, and doesn’t get along well with her new partner, Detective Barry Frost (Lee Thompson Young). He’s great when it comes to anything that deals with technology, but gets sick at the sight of blood. Still, he’s just as loyal to Jane as Korsak.
Also very loyal is Angela Rizzoli (Lorraine Bracco), Jane’s mom. She’s the epitome of an Italian mother — somewhat overbearing and very protective of her cubs. She claims to have not slept since Jane became a cop and wishes she’d be a little more feminine. She’s not the only one in the family to feel this way about her, as her little brother Frankie (Jordan Bridges) feels very protective of his big sis. He’s trying to make his way up the police force ladder so also feels like he’s a little in her shadow.

What do you think? Do you like the Rizzoli & Isles TV show? Do you think it should end or continue for an eighth season?

The show should not end. I really enjoy watching the show. Don’t cancel it.
I am beginning to think I should give up watching TV. Rizzoli and Isles is one of my favorite shows and now TNT cancels. Why not let the people decide if this show should be terminated. I love the show and hope TNT will reconsider.
Love this show, one of my favorites, I wish they would not cancel it, I will miss it. Love the characters and stories………please rethink.
I love this show and I think it is terrible they are cancelling……….it is a wonderful show and everyone I know loves it. Please renew.
I can’t believe they’re cancelling this popular show! Are the age demographics not young enough (I’m 73)? That’s usually the case, it seems.
Why would they cancel this show. One of the best shows on TV. They should cancel come of the wierd reality shows.
Unbelievable. The best shows keep getting cancelled. I always look forward to this show every season. It’s my favorite show and I watch allot of TV. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will truly miss this show…one of better one without all the trash and horrific graphics with a little comedy. Not enough of these on TV.
What a HUGE mistake cancelling this show. It’s one of my favorites along with Major Crimes. I guess I should hold my breath to see if that
gets the axe to.
I am SO mad! I love the chemistry of this show. Angie Harmon is an amazing actress. Quit getting rid of the good shows just to put some piece of cap in its place.
My Wife and I just love this show and to find out that it has been cancelled it very disappointing. So why do this if the ratings are so good we know a lot of people who watch this show and feel the same way we do. Please explain?
This is one of our favorite shows, and is always entertaining. Why is this program being canceled? The ratings are very good.
I hope that the powers that be decide to continue this show. The crimes are interesting and interaction between the characters makes this one of the best
This is one of our favorite shows. Please rethink the show ending.
This saddens us as we have watched every episode and will miss this series. Hey Netflix????
