TV show description:
This police drama is based on the Rizzoli/Isles series of novels by Tess Gerritsen. The series revolves around a police detective and a medical examiner who, although they’re complete opposites, combine their talents to solve crimes in Boston.
Detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) has the mindset that the criminals she’s chasing are monsters. As a younger girl, with a housewife mom and plumber dad, she saw a police officer on career day at school and decided that was the job for her. She wanted the gun, the badge, and mostly the respect. She worked her way up from a beat patrolman to detective in vice and narcotics, then finally to the homicide unit. Her philosophy in tracking down the criminals is to make it personal — get angry and never give up.
By contrast, it wasn’t until her adult years that Dr. Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) figured out she wanted to become a forensic pathologist. She always knew she was different than the other kids and would hide in her room reading and dissecting dead mice. Aside from being a scholar, she was also an accomplished pianist and honor student. All of this led her to student medicine but, after medical school, she realized she wasn’t good at the emotions needed for treating living patients and switched to forensics.
Maura knows she doesn’t have much in common with the police she works with and knows that they call her “Queen of the Dead” behind her back. This includes Jane’s former and present partners. Jane’s former partner, Detective Vince Korsak (Bruce McGill), is very much her mentor. Korsak has always treated her like a daughter, and doesn’t get along well with her new partner, Detective Barry Frost (Lee Thompson Young). He’s great when it comes to anything that deals with technology, but gets sick at the sight of blood. Still, he’s just as loyal to Jane as Korsak.
Also very loyal is Angela Rizzoli (Lorraine Bracco), Jane’s mom. She’s the epitome of an Italian mother — somewhat overbearing and very protective of her cubs. She claims to have not slept since Jane became a cop and wishes she’d be a little more feminine. She’s not the only one in the family to feel this way about her, as her little brother Frankie (Jordan Bridges) feels very protective of his big sis. He’s trying to make his way up the police force ladder so also feels like he’s a little in her shadow.

I love the show and the books. I tell everybody i know about it.
One of the most entertaining shows on. I always look forward to the nest season’s starting. Its a shame to take away good shows to put on trash.
I can’t believe you would cancel a great show. Good written shows are to come by these days. Not all of us like reality shows.
I hope one of the major stations pick it up…this is the best show you have action and comedy..why why why???????
I cannot believe you are cancelling this show!!! I love this show ! There are so many stupid shows on that need to be cancel !!! but not this one!!!!- just don’t get it…Don’t cancel this show!!!! Please!!!!!
My f a v o r i t e on TV. The humor keeps it up in what can be some gruesome things. All actors are beyond spectacular and mesh well together. Please don’t cancel it.
I think that it should continue. It’s a great show.
it doesn’t matter what the public says, the powers that be care about one thing only…MONEY
I love this show, great plots and acting. I am so sad that this show is ending.
please no more house wife’s of anywhere… I cant stand that crap. Bring back my
Rizzoli!
I have watched every single episode of this wonderfully written show. You cannot end the show and leave Jane where the writers have (not to spoil it for those of you have not see it yet). I don’t understand how these decisions are made and can their minds be changed.
I cant believe you are cancelling this show It is excellent!!! Adding to other comments this has great characters, great story lines. Cant wait to see what garbage you replace this show with, more reality. Does anyone pay attention to what is good, what your audience wants.
I really enjoy this show . You can understand it compared to some of the newer shows that have no plot or stories behind them. The people cancelling this show have no common since when it comes to the viewing public.
This is one of my favorite shows, and I don’t understand why they renewed some terrible shows and cancelled Rizzoli and Isles. A pox on the execs who made this decision!
It’s one of my favorite shows, and I am ticked at TNT. Look at the junk they renewed. A pox on the execs who made this decision!
Agreed. Please return some shows for the legally SANE to enjoy. Trash begets trash and this is NOT trash. Awesome show and actors!
My husband and I really enjoy this show and will miss it. Wish it hadn’t canceled.
