As reported earlier today, the Rosewood TV show has been cancelled after two seasons on FOX. Now, stars Morris Chestnut and Jaina Lee Ortiz have responded to the cancellation. Check out their reactions, below.
A FOX police procedural, Rosewood centers on charming Miami pathologist, Dr. Beaumont Rosewood, Jr. (Chestnut) and Detective Annalise Villa (Ortiz). Gabrielle Dennis, Anna Konkle, Lorraine Toussaint, Domenick Lombardozzi, and Eddie Cibrian also star. The season two, and now Rosewood TV series finale episode, “Blistering Heat & Brotherly Love,” first aired on Friday, April 28, 2017.
Morris Chestnut on the Rosewood Cancellation
Taking to Instagram, Chestnut wrote:
I am very grateful about the part that everyone took in Rosewood’s journey, because everyone was truly an integral part; the writers who crafted great story-lines, the actors who brought these stories to life, the production crew who sustained the show’s infrastructure, and the terrific fans who embraced this phenomenon and became just as much a part of Rosewood as anyone else.
FOX provided a platform for a show that made strides in diversity and the images it projected, as all-inclusive. We were able to peer into the lives of characters who displayed their hopes, dreams, courage and fears. Rosewood also helped reinforce a newer definition of Family, as a group of people who most care for and support one another.
The #Rosewood family, itself was an Extremely Special group of people who’ll be friends forever. This is not only a part of the industry, it’s a part of life. When one door closes, two more can open… Thank you all for your continued #onelove and support. See you back on the screen, soon. Big and Small. #PEACE – MC
Jaina Lee Ortiz Says Goodbye to Rosewood
Ortiz also posted to Instagram, saying:
Today is a special day. Today I say goodbye to my very first show, Rosewood.
I say goodbye to Detective Annalise Villa. Damn, I’m gonna miss that woman.
To my partner in crime/the guy who mentored me and showed me the ropes on set. The beautiful Morris Chestnut, and when I say beautiful, I mean his HEART, his SOUL. He is the most selfless person I think I’ve ever met. Kind and gracious.
Our rock. Our captain.
5 days a week, 14 hours a day, he became one of my best-friends.
Love you, Morrisito.
The cast…you’re my family.
To all the hardworking crew and writers… you showed me what “movie magic” was really made out of. It’s created on the backs of your hard work.
Last but not least, this show and it’s incredible characters were created by Todd Harthan. This guy said yes when everyone else told me no, and it has changed my life forever. I adore you. 💙
Gotta give a shoutout to all the fans who have supported and loved us from day 1. The love you expressed via social media for the characters and the story is something we will cherish forever.
Love u all!

What do you think? Did you watch the first two seasons of Rosewood? Should FOX have cancelled or renewed this TV series for a third season?
I am very disappointed ! i loved this show the story lines the actors ! What a disappointment !
I’m really disappointed as well. I really enjoy this show. I have watched it 3 times and I don’t understand why it was cancelled .. Maybe another network will pick it up .
I just watched the last episode. Decided to check online about the next season and discovered it is cancelled! SO Sad!… I so enjoyed the program. Change your minds and bring it back!
Some thing happened to me now im here sobing i just wish this wasnt the end of the show i watched 1 and 2 season like 2 already
So sad that we’ll never know what happens with this terrific cast. Rosewood had just the right touch of humor and personal drams. This is a real disappointment.
I agree
I am so disappointment that they are cancelling this show. It is one of the best shows on Fox. It is a shame that they cancel the good shows and leave the crap. Not everyone want to watch reality TV or Sex or shows where every other word is demeaning. This was a wholesome show with good actors. FOX THIS SUCKS.
The ratings were awful but I know a bunch of people who liked it. Sorry for the fans.
How does a show like Rosewood with 3 million viewers get canceled while a mindless show like Bob’s Burgers with 2 million viewers gets renewed? I am really disappointed that those of us over the age of 49 don’t mean anything to FOX. Rosewood was a wonderful show with very good story lines fun and GOOD actors.
I’m so sad to hear they cancelled Rosewood. I love this show and look forward to it every week. It was taking a different direction with opening up in LA. Fox should have renewed it to see what Rosewood had in store for next session with the LA one. I’m very disappointed in Fox. We fans need to get it back on.
This was a great show. I cannot believe it was cancelled by FOX. Very sad. I watch only a few shows on FOX. Rosewood was great. : (
Watched every episode. Very well written and acted. Never should be cancelled!!!
This was one my favorite shows. I’m so sorry it was cancelled. I will miss all the actors on this show. It was one of the best. Very sad to know it won’t be back for another season or four or five or more.!
I loved Rosewood and was very sad that it was not renewed for season three.
I am so, so disappointed that this superb show was cancelled. To all the cast, especially Morris Chestnut, I will miss you and I hope you all go forward to continued success. Rosewood was a beacon for diversity and for those of us who support it. In the current political climate, this cancellation feels like even more of a devastating loss.
Another good show down the drain… I swear if they put more reality TV on I am going to boycott!! I can’t stand most of TV now…. It all reality BS…
I am not at all surprised Rosewood was cancelled. After all, it was an extremely well written show that required actual thinking. Of course all the dumb sitcoms were renewed. I guess it’s all about the bottom line $.
I watched every episode of Rosewood. I loved the show. I wish they didn’t cancel it.
