Tonight’s sixth season finale of Royal Pains ends with a cliffhanger. How’s it been doing in the ratings? Will the USA series return for a seventh season or will it be cancelled instead?
Royal Pains follows the continuing adventures of a former ER doctor (Mark Feuerstein) from New York who, along with his younger brother (Paulo Costanzo), runs a concierge doctor business in The Hamptons. The show’s cast includes Reshma Shetty, Brooke D’Orsay, Campbell Scott, and Ben Shenkman.
Year-to-year, Royal Pains is way down in the ratings. Compared to season five’s numbers, season six is down by a whopping 43% in viewership (averaging 2.03 million) and is down 35% in the 18-49 demographic (registering a 0.5 rating).
While those numbers are disturbing — and could certainly lead to the show being cancelled — all of USA Network’s scripted series are struggling and the cable channel theoretically can’t cancel everything.
Of the show’s chances for a renewal, co-creator and executive producer Andrew Lenchewski told TV Guide, “We’re optimists at heart and we think that the storytelling that we’ve done and the way the show has performed hopefully will earn us a Season 7. We really tried very hard not to let that uncertainty dictate how we wrapped up our stories this season. We really just wanted to tell the best stories we could with the most satisfying conclusions that we could and at the same time, make sure that we left room for new stories to be told if we do get the opportunity to continue.”
What do you think? Are you hoping that Royal Pains returns for season seven — or is it time for the series to be cancelled?
Hard to find a show with substance these days with all the un-real reality shows these days please continue
Please come back. I enjoy watching Royal Pain, I ‘d sit with my popcorn and watch, this is my TV night!
Please, please, please renew Royal Pains for another season! We love the weekly stories. We love the characters. And we want to continue to see these characters and their relationships grow. This is a fantastic, funny, engaging series that USA cannot afford to lose!
I’m hopeful the show will return for Season 7, though, tonight’s was simply a sweet ending to a great story.
One of the few shows I watch regularly and look forward to. Please renew it.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE renew Royal Pains for another season! I love the show. I’ve watched since the first season and it’s truly a great show…love all the characters and this season was awesome!
We have watched Royal Pains from the beginning and have not missed a show. Each season we cannot wait for it to start up again. It has been nice to have something to watch besides reality programs. Keeping our fingers crossed for season 7.
Please renew Royal pains. I love this show! These characters have become family. I look forward to seeing them every summer.
Please renew.
Pleeze Pleeze renew Royal Pains for a season 7!!! It is one series we cannot do without! We agree with all of the comments posted. There needs to be early info on when season 7 begins. We have watched or DVR’d every episode and we are young 60’s!!
I love this show. I hope it is not cancelled. It is a nice contrast to such shows as “Satisfaction” or “Rush” or “Legend”. Some people prefer not to be shocked and appalled every hour of the day and night. And this is a show the entire family can watch, rather a rarity anymore. Also, The Hamptons are lovely and sunny and no one is poor, at least for the purposes of this show. It’s nice not to see suffering for an hour once a week.
Royal Pains is a great show. If you need to make room, get rid of that awful Crisley show.
Please continue ROYAL PAINS SEASON 7.. I do enjoy and entertained by Royal Pains series. I am from Malaysia, so basically i can only watch this interesting, knowledgeable and fun tv show from HyppTv(UNIFI) or Online streaming. This is to tell you how addictive i am to Royal Pains… Hope season 7 will come out very soon! 🙁
I love this show and have not missed a single episode since the beginning. I don’t watch any violent or dark shows, so Royal Pains has been a joy. Please renew!
