AMC has decided to cancel Rubicon after one season of 13 episodes.
Billed as a conspiracy thriller, Rubicon is set in a government intelligence agency where nothing is as it seems. The cast includes James Badge Dale, Dallas Roberts, Jessica Collins, Christopher Evan Welch, Lauren Hodges, Arliss Howard, and Miranda Richardson.
The TV show was previewed back in June and attracted a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.07 million viewers. When the series officially kicked off in August, the demo dropped to a 0.3 rating with 1.9 million viewers. The demo dropped to a 0.2 after that and the whole season averaged a 0.3 rating and 1.25 million viewers.
That wasn’t enough for AMC to want a second season and the cable channel has now cancelled the series.
Of the cancellation decision, AMC released the following statement, “Rubicon’ gave us an opportunity to tell a rich and compelling story, and we’re proud of the series. This was not an easy decision, but we are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a phenomenally talented and dedicated team.”
The 13th and final episode of Rubicon aired on October 17th.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that it’s been cancelled? What would you liked to have seen in season two?

The first real conspiracy series that is well written and acted – it should NOT be cancelled!
They could at least make a movie or a mini series to tie up all the lose ends kept hoping for season 2
Rubicon was a great show! Agree it was intelligent and didn’t fit the profile for usual TV. BRING IT BACK FOR SEASON 2!!!!!!
If it doesn’t promote sex or contain idiotic ‘Funny” gags or situations, it gets canceled. 100 Centre Street On A & E, which I thought was one of the best shows on the air, was canceled – Why? Too much drama & good acting & not enough sex & stupidity? Is this the same reason Rubicon was canceled? Sure, renew a show like How I Met Your mother but not an interest grabber like Rubicon. Have the exectives behind shows like this ever thought about trying different time slots or different days?
brilliant show. didn’t find the series ’til episode 7…caught up online. rubicon gave insight on how the defense dept. often operates “things”. i say bring it back but, Who really makes that decision?
Sorry to see it go. It was good! loved it! really intelligent. needs resolution.
I am boycotting all AMC television until this show is picked up for a second season.
Bad decision to cancel. Best new show last season.
Of course I am sorry. I watched from Spain and this is the only serie that I have really enjoyed! I find the plot very good and the cast brilliant. Although the plot and the number of episodes seems to be coherent I would love to watch another season, perhaps with a new project but in any case with Michael Cristofer.
Best regards from Barcelona.
Typical. If it isn’t 30 minute stupid sitcom, it goes. Rubicon was the best show on TV. Just reconfirms my belief that American’s are the grade “D” nation in their ability to view the world.
On behalf of my husband and I, we’re extremely disappointed that such an intriguing and inteligent series, such as Rubicon, should be cancelled. We would very much appreciate a reconsideration of this decision. I was expecting a connection between the intelligence agency for whom Will works, and the death of his wife. I guess 9/11 is still too recent for the American audience.
I really think this series was the best thriller show ever!! I would like to see it return for a second and third season.
I loved it and will miss it. I just cannot understand why it was canceled. Gray
WHY????
This was the best show on tv.
******* money hunry ******** why can’t they even make a decent ending to this.
biggest loss since carnivale
My husband and I looked forward to each episode. We thought that the series was very well done and are very dissapointed that it was cancelled. We think that if the show had been advertised more it would have attracted more viewers. We wish that AMC would reconsider.
Just goes to show when a “thinking person’s show” is finally produced and aired how quickly the exec’s try to get rid of it…maybe if there was a laugh track option they could turn on during the show they would have renewed it. 😉 —funny how when something good is done “for art’s sake” the excuse of not making money is used to can it, but when something pathetic is kept for art’s sake the public is told funding of “marginalized viewpoints” is necessary…..idiots.
