There’s been no shortage of TV shows about doctors who have lots of problems. Some are ratings hits while others are cancelled after only one season. How’s Rush on USA Network been doing? Will it get a second season?
Rush revolves around a talented and handsome physician (Tom Ellis) who had it all — but then lost it in one fateful night. Six years later, he’s a private doctor who treats less-than-squeaky-clean clientele in Los Angeles. The rest of the cast includes Harry Hamlin, Larenz Tate, Odette Annable, and Sarah Habel.
Launching in mid-July, the first episode of Rush attracted 1.7 million viewers with a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic. It wasn’t an impressive start for a scripted show on USA.
For the episodes that followed, the numbers have bounced all around — up and down like a ping-pong ball. Last week’s installment hit series highs while the previous week hit new series lows. It’s difficult to explain but, when the ratings get this low, it doesn’t take many Nielsen viewers to watch or not watch a show to cause a dramatic shift in the ratings. Still, it is unusual.
Like Satisfaction, Rush has very poor ratings — even when compared to the rest of USA’s ailing scripted series. It seems very likely that USA will cancel Rush but, given the cable channel’s current situation, it could easily go either way.
But, what do you think? Do you like the RushTV show on USA? If you ran the network, would you cancel or renew it for a second season?
10/2 update: USA has cancelled Rush after one season of 10 episodes.
I have really gotten into the show and the cast does a wonderful job. Please consider doing another season it needs more than one. Thanks for your consideration!
Keep it! But what ashame that the season finale ended that way.
When networks quit listening to Nielsen Ratings maybe we will have some good shows to watch! Keep the show Tom Ellis is a great actor!
Love the show, hope it gets return. The season finale tonight was great, now for another season to see how things go for him.
Nothing entertaining about a troubled doctor. Cancel it. This season’s offerings from USA have been a total bust. The last show that I watch on USA is White Collar and that’s ending. USA’s lineup has lost me as a viewer and I used to watch a lot of their shows Monk, Burn Notice, In Plain Sight, etc.. Hope they change direction and put something on worth watching.
Pls keep dis show love it. So much better than that crap satisfaction.
When networks quit listening to Nielsen ratings maybe we will finally have some quality shows to watch! Rush is a great show! Tom Ellis is a great actor! This is the first show I’ve liked on the USA channel and counted the days until it was on again!
Keep it. Great show. USA already cancelled one of my shows, Common Law. Pllleeeaaassse keep Rush!
Keep it!!!
I love Rush! WATCHED IT EVERY WEEK
I think Rush is one of the best shows on TV. Great cast! Great script! Hope it gets renewed. It’s totally unpredictable, unlike many of today’s shows.
If I was running USA I would keep Rush and Satisfaction. Low ratings be damned. Many a great show started off slow and rose to greatness. The writing and subject matter of both shows is in my opinion top notch.
please renew the show… it is awsome
Not really a big fan of any USA shows since Burn Notice has ended and since Common Law was axed. This one didn’t appeal to me because there are too many doctor shows on.
This show is nothing like any other “doctor shows” on TV.
Awesome show! Please renew this show!!!!!!
