TV show description:
A supernatural and historical drama, this TV show is set in the 17th century in colonial Massachusetts. During a significant time in the history of American politics, religion and society, this series tells the story behind the infamous witch trials.
Salem Village and Salem Town feuded over property, grazing rights and church rights. The government was dominated by Puritan leaders. People were scrutinized closely and this resulted in discord. They were afraid of being persecuted for anything that may offend the Puritan mindset and the word “witch” was an easy and appropriate curse hurled at someone who behaved abnormally.
In Salem, the witches are a part of day-to-day life, but they are not who or what they seem to be. Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery) is the most powerful witch of Salem and her secrets threaten her position of power. Mary is the wife of George Sibley (Michael Mulheren), the ailing, wealthy head of the Selectmen of Salem.
While leading a double life, Mary depends on her faithful servant and friend, mysterious Tituba (Ashley Madekwe), to carry out her agenda. Mary is ruthless, yet vulnerable; her world is torn into two when Salem’s native son, John Alden (Shane West) returns after many years at war. John and Mary were lovers before he left the Puritan town of Salem.
John takes on the role of being the voice of reason in this town that’s obsessed with witch hunts and unexplained phenomena. He realizes that suspicion and fear result in innocent people being victimized. Cotton Mather (Seth Gabel) is a well-educated local aristocrat who leads the witch hunt, preaches from the Bible, and visits a brothel in the evenings.
John and Mary find themselves in the middle of a romance while Cotton’s witch hunt engulfs the town in hysteria and horror, and the supernatural.
Episode #36 — Black Sunday
Mary Sibley’s journey comes to a conclusion, as Sebastian and Alden face off to the death, Mary misplaces her trust in Anne and the fates of Tituba, Hathorne, Alden, Mary, The Boy, Mercy, and more are all determined.
First aired: January 25, 2017.
What do you think? Do you like the Salem TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
The series of Salem is better than the American Horror Story. It makes me really want to know how close it is to the actual event. I have searched for the actual accounts that happened in Salem. The series so far has been an intrigue to watch. Some times sitting on the edge of my seat. I hope Salem continues for awhile. I love witches and the supernatural and as long as the film continues, I will continue to watch. Thanks for a great show!
Love it
I think the series IS very exciting!!!! The actors/actresses preformed extremely well and the plots were terrific, leaving me wanting more.!!!!! It’s a shame we may have to wait almost a full year to continue the journey, but it should definitely happen!! Best series I’ve seen since American Horror Story-Covent. Actually better!!!
Too dark! Not everyone remembers the past lives of “the burning” of innocents. This story is not true to what happened at all. Witches are created by the Christian bibles. True witches believe and practice no harm to none. Truth today needs to be told for the Wiccan path that remains in true to the harmony of nature. The dark side believes in persecuting others for power. No love involved there at all.
Wait until you see.
The “Salem” fantastical TV show is very dark and cruel to the true history of the Wiccan path. The Great Rite is not a death ritual at all for instance. True witches do not worship the dark side or Satanic path. That would be satanists instead. Many innocents in true history were killed during the very real “burning times”. This show just furthers what the the Christian religion during the 1600 – 1800’s took so that women would lose their land, not be able to practice mid-wifery, or use herbs to heal others. Hundreds and thousands of wise men and… Read more »
Usually I begin watching shows but never continue them either because they don’t keep my interest or they become predictable. Salem, however, has managed to not only hope for Mondays to come around (I watch it on Hulu plus) but also always surprises me and leaves me hanging with every episode! I really love this TV show and would greatly love the producers, WGN and anybody who has a say on Salem continuing on for a second season if they decide to continue filming it!
I learned that the whole season will repeat next Sunday. July 20.
I never get hooked on TV shows, Salem however has me counting the minutes until
the next Sunday broadcast.
Comcast cable does not carry Salem, I have to get it off line or on demand. somebody should tell Comcast to get on the wagon and provide quality programing like Salem!
It must be your area because I subscribe to Comcast, which carries WGN in my area.
I LOVE this show! Please DO NOT Cancel! Lots of life lessons in this. Learning to deal with sociopaths/psychopaths/drama kings and queens/narcissists/anti-social personalities etc. even way back in the 1700’s has lessons we can use 30 years later!!
Does anyone know if the episodes will repeat before the season finale?
I agree hopefully. They will give it more time to see what I see
Dont cancel I love this I wait every Sunday for it
I love this show. It is the only show I wait for. I really hope they renew it.
I absoulty love this show and hop it runs for a long time.

The show should be renewed. The acting is fantastic and quite believable, Great show that deserves a second season at least.
