Animation producers (and spouses) Allison Abbate and Tony Cervone recently stopped by the Radio Rashy podcast to talk with animation writer/producer Paul Dini and his wife, actress/magician Misty Lee.
A lot of the discussion revolved around Abbate’s work on Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie feature film but Cervone, who’s a supervising producer on Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, mentioned the Cartoon Network series.
Cervone said, “There are 11 shows left that will finish the series off at 52 episodes. I’m not sure when they’re coming back. I never know when they’re coming back. If I had to guess, probably in the summer because it usually airs in the summer. But I can’t wait for these last 11 to get out for people to see them because they’re crazy.”
At 2011’s ComicCon, Cervone and fellow supervising producer Mitch Watson teased that events in the pilot episode would pay off in the 52nd episode. We now know that will be the series finale.
One of the most recent episodes, which aired last fall, featured appearances by classic Hanna-Barbera characters Blue Falcon, Dynomutt, Race Bannon, Doctor Benton Quest (Jonny’s scientist dad), and evil Doctor Zin. It turns out that Doctor Quest created the Dog Wonder!
Though Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated won’t be returning for a third season, it’s a safe bet that Scooby and the gang will return soon.

Mystery Incorporated is number one! I can’t believe how brilliant, scary, and hilarious this series was, and all of the insane pop culture references were top notch! Every single episode had me at some point going “WHAT?!…Ha, ha, ha..That’s GREAT!”
I can’t believe how crazy, awesome this show was. Maybe they can do Feature length movies with this same group. Mystery Inc. rates right up there with Lost.

Pretty please do a third season of Scooby Doo? I love the way they pot rayed the characters in this show, and the plots are INSANE! It’s so amazing and I hope they bring it back soon!
Awesome show!! I’ve watched every episode with my oldest son. The whole family loves it. There’s a great plot and it keeps the boys quiet for a little while. Please bring back one more season to wrap everything up. PLEASE!!!!!
Please please please!! I’ll die without a season 3.. I’ve watched seaon two twice! I mean its scooby do in college for crying out loud!! Fred and daphne are getting married!! Cassidy and Mr.E.. And a new Mr.E??? You Cannot stop there!!
I know, right? A new Mr. E, the old one coming back to life, and Cassidy’s returned as well! Plus, there’s Fred and Daphne… They can’t do that to us! What’s the point of bringing back all these characters if you’re not even going to tell the rest of their story?! Come on, this was one of the ONLY shows I’ve ever watched that handles a reset to the timeline well!
Awwww… I just finished Season 2 and cannot believe there isn’t any more! While I can see how the current ending may be a “good” place to stop from the creators’ standpoint, I say to that…. OBJECTION!!! They could have had a really good plot arc about them at the university! Not only is this an injustice, it’s also passing up what could become an AMAZING plot addition. Plus, I need to find out if Shaggy and Velma ever start dating again or I’ll go insane.
Please. Please I’ve been a fan for so long and Id really be disappointed if there isn’t a third season.PLEASE. This is one of the best cartoons ever to come out. Ever since Scooby first aired many years ago. Please don’t stop now.
WHHYYYYYYY you can’t end it in the last episode they left to go to another town to solve more mysteries it can’t just stop at season two there has to be a season three I don’t care if someone else or I have to start a petition scooby doo is my show I watch it faithfully this so unfair to everyone else who loves scooby doo he is the best and I will not rest until I get a season three
I love scooby doo and you have to make another season. All I do is watch scooby doo and I need another season. I think it’s great for all kids and all your doing is crushing kids hearts. We need another season. Like when they are trying to get mystery back or somthing just ANOTHER SEASON please.

Another season! It just needs to happen! What’s the point of making the show if you don’t complete it? It was really well-made and great for everyone of all ages!
