After scheduling sitcoms on Mondays at 9pm for decades, CBS execs decided to try tech drama Scorpion in that timeslot last season. Despite lots of negative reviews, it became the network’s third-highest rated show in the demo. Will it continue to do well? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a third season? Stay tuned.
Based on real-life events, Scorpion revolves around computer expert Walter O’Brien (Elyes Gabel) and his team of brilliant misfits. They’re this country’s last line of defense against complex, high-tech threats. The series also stars Robert Patrick, Katharine McPhee, Jadyn Wong, Ari Stidham and Eddie Kaye Thomas.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
3/25 update: CBS has renewed this series and 10 others for the 2016-17 season. Details here.
4/26 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
For comparisons: The first season of Scorpion averaged a 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.96 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Scorpion TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
I really enjoy watching this show. I love the chemistry between the cast members in their roles. It’s a fast paced show that can protray action/violent scenes with comedic relief simultaneously. Of course some of the scenarios are far fetched. It’s meant to be entertainment, it’s not a documentary. I feel happy after watching an episode of Scorpion.
I don’t know much about ratings but to me this is looking pretty good, right? They HAVE to renew this show for season 3, and hopefully many more to come. I absolutely love this show and the casts are fantastic. Been a fan of Katharine since Idol days and glad that she’s doing so well despite losing to Taylor Hicks.
I totally love, love, love, love this show! It is the ONLY thing that makes me look forward to Mondays. The cast couldn’t have been more perfect for the parts they play. I’m loving the chemistry/relationships evolving between the characters, all the tech, the mechanics, and the action they all seem to get into. I have laughed and cried while watching. I love Ralph and what he brings to the show and the dynamic everyone has with him. I think having a kid and how they incorporated him into the show like they have was, pardon the pun, but genius.… Read more »
The first year was pretty good on the show with realistic problems to be solved. It seems the writers are running out of ideas of what can be blown up and what can’t be blown up. Also patching a Damn 101. Your not going to get that to work either.
This show really needs help about reality. A gas line just does not build up pressure and explode. If everyone shut off and quit using gas does that mean all the gas lines are going to blow up??? I quit watching after about 20 minutes.
I agree wk7w6
This is my favorite show on Television specifically due to the chemistry of the cast. It’s my only can’t miss show. I do wish the writing was a little tighter, but I just love this hour of programming.
This evenings episode is FINALLY what I had expected of the show. The false ads and show intro states its about helping the young boy genius, for one. This is the first episode I have seen with the boy actually IN the show. The cast pictures dont even show him. I love learning from watching this and I love Happy’s character as her skills are more to my interests than all the computer stuff. I would love to see more with the boy – and to have him in the cast pic., or change the info that infers the show… Read more »
Although some of the action is a little far fetched…I still enjoy watching the team and hope it is renewed
Just hire some new writers all the episodes are not bad but some seem slow and drawn out while other things are crazy quick it doesn’t keep a good rhythm. But over all I do love the show and would hate to see if go without completing the story.
I enjoy the chemistry of the cast, but the writing is the worst on television. The situations are so contorted and contrived that it gets in the way of the story.
Well the characters are good but the show is getting a bit far fetched. And the background music is too loud and interferes with the dialog, creates a big distraction. I think the show has run its course
Love love this show.it is my Monday night!! I don’t miss it, turn off phone, Don’t disturb me when Scorpion is on. I have cried big tears, and belly laughed . I love the character study, and interaction within the episodes. One thing that has amazed me is that in many of the story lines I simply accepted the fantasy element as good story.fodder. only later in the year to see many of these tech miracles that I dismissed, were actually real. I have gotten an education on current technology. The romantic dynamic is totally fun!! Please don’t take my… Read more »
Interesting that both Scorpion and Supergirl had about the same percentage drop in viewers from episode 1 to episode 2 and the same percentage increase in the latest episode.
Scorpion is official my favorite show in 2015
NOTE TO ADMINISTRATORS: Just to let you know the 8.495 viewing figure for ep 2.02 is wrong. I think it should be 9.495. I think that brings the entire average down.
Thanks for spotting that.
Thanks for changing it so soon!
This show is amazing. Sure, the events seem impossible, but this is a TV show and the characters are supposedly geniuses. The emotional moments are welcome addition to the nerve-wracking action scenes. A little bit of comic relief is definitely an improvement. I think people need to understand that a recurring theme of the show is logic versus emotion. This isn’t a pure action show, nor is it a pure drama show. And no, this is not based on “true” events. It was simply inspired by the real life Walter O’ Brien’s (yet to be proven) 197 IQ. (Also, who… Read more »
