MTV is shaking things up with Scream. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the series’ season one showrunners, Jill Blotevogel and Jaime Paglia, are being replaced for season two.
Based on the popular film franchise of the same name, the horror series centers on a group of teenagers who are haunted by a new killer in town.
The series’ first season ended in early September 2015, a few months after MTV greenlit the show for a second season.
The new showrunners, Michael Gans and Richard Register, have previously worked on ABC Family’s Make It or Break It. The Hollywood Reporter suggests the reason for the staff switch may have to do with creative differences between the showrunners and the production company, Dimension TV. Additionally, the first season debuted to poor ratings, with an average of 755,000 viewers for its initial 10-episode run.
Season two is slated to premiere on April 20, 2016.
