Shades of Blue will return to NBC for its second season at midseason, and Ray Liotta is ready for several more seasons of the drama, which also stars Jennifer Lopez.
The actor, who is best known for his role in Goodfellas, is happy that that the shorter seasons will allow him to do other film projects. He said the following, according to Digital Spy:
“I think contractually it’s four or five years, but what I liked about it is that it’s only 13 episodes [per season] and you’re only working five months, so you’ve got seven months to do movies. It doesn’t take up your whole life like a 22-episode run. That would drive me bonkers. So if it keeps going the way it’s going, and the stories are compelling, and the same people are involved, I would definitely like to keep on going.”
Liotta did not feel that way before he signed on with Shades of Blue. The actor had some concerns about working with Jennifer Lopez because of her popularity. He was worried that the series would focus completely on her character. He said the following:
“I kept hesitating… and they kept coming after me. They really wanted somebody who could legitimize the edginess of what they wanted this show to be. But I still wasn’t sure. I don’t want to be the guy sitting behind a desk, telling everybody what to do, and at the end of the story, I’m saying, ‘Good job, team!’ – so they invited me to the writers’ room, so that gave me confidence.”
Shades of Blue will return in early 2017 with its second season. Are you excited for the return of this series? Tell us what you think.
Hi I love that show I can’t wait for it to come back on I have been looking for it.
Awesome show the writing is compelling, and the actors work on the series only legitimizes how the story spings into action! Great work everyone on the set of shades of blue!
I am so happy Shades of Blue will return. I love Jlo and Liotta.
That’s nice. Try getting an average rating above a 1.17 this season. Either the show or the person who did the scheduling should have been cancelled. Since neither happened, the intelligent viewer is left feeling like Liotta said what he was at the end of Goodfellas.
