What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the Spike cable channel, The Shannara Chronicles stars Austin Butler, Ivana Baquero, Manu Bennett, Aaron Jakubenko, Marcus Vanco, Vanessa Morgan, Malese Jow, Gentry White, Caroline Chikezie, and Desmond Chiam. When season two kicks off, chaos has overtaken the Four Lands. With the population afraid of the return of magic, a body called The Crimson does not hesitate to intimidate anyone as it hunts down magic users. Meanwhile, in the wake of his losses, Wil (Butler) forsakes his destiny to become a healer. However, after the mysterious Mareth (Jow) saves him, he returns to the struggle.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of The Shannara Chronicles on Spike averaged a 0.09 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 246,000 viewers. Compared to season one on MTV, that’s down by 77% and down by 72%, respectively. Learn how The Shannara Chronicles stacks up against other Spike TV shows.

Telly’s Take
Based on the ratings, things already didn’t look good and then they started airing two episodes a night which smelled like a burnoff. The Viacom execs have been shuffling programs on their channels (including BET, CMT, TV Land, VH1, and MTV) so they may be okay with this big dip in the ratings as they try to establish the new Paramount Network. I’ll keep a hungry eye out and will update this page with breaking developments (and, hopefully, my supper plans). I realize that it is probably to late to make a difference, but I recently found this show on Netflix and fell in love with it. I am hoping that it returns for a third season, if for nothing else, at least it can air one more season and not leave us with a big cliff hanger. If I am being honest, I would have been ok with Wil sacrificing himself the same way Amberle did, and them being able to meet back up and live happily ever after, but sense that didn’t happen. I love this story. I’ve watched it through a couple times. I do find Spike (a testosterone station?) an odd match though. I hope it gets renewed by someone.
I just found this show on Netflix. I LOVED it! I hope it’s not too late to bring it back!
I agree with Dawn. It would be nice to at least have closure to the story line. The books were fantastic and would be even more enjoyable brought to life.
The shannara needs to stay. The books were amazing and the series could go for so long. It did not do good on spike because nobody watches that channel anymore. It’s dying. Plus spike doesn’t pop out as a channel that pertains to the type of people that are watching the shannara.
It would be nice if they would at least bring it back for season three to have the story come to a conclusion for it’s loyal fans so they can have closure. It is very disappointing these networks put out all these shows and ask the fans to invest in the show and want them to be loyal but they do not return the favor by cancelling the show with out closure for the fans. It does not encourage viewship of new shows. As a fan why would I want to invest into any show if I can’t count on… Read more »

Books were Amazing, Actors have contracts, People Want this kind of series on TV.
Also,
Rating for Season Two Would have been better on Spike IF People would have Know that Season Two was Not going to be on the MTV Network as Season One had been.
I’ve read so many of the books and The Shannara Chronicles have a boatload of material to offer from the books. There definitely needs to be several more seasons of this series
