CROWN MEDIA FAMILY NETWORKS ANNOUNCES ‘SIGNED, SEALED, DELIVERED’ FROM MARTHA WILLIAMSON, EXECUTIVE PRODUCER OF ‘TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL,’ MOVES TO HALLMARK MOVIES & MYSTERIES WITH NEW EXTENDED FORMAT
Franchise to Include Multiple 2-Hour Original Movies; First Film, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered For Christmas,” Premieres November 23
Crown Media Family Networks announced today that Hallmark Channel original weekly scripted series, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” executive produced and written by Martha Williamson (Executive Producer of “Touched by an Angel”), will move to sister network Hallmark Movies & Mysteries as a movie franchise consisting of a series of two-hour original films. Debuting on November 23 at 9pm ET/PT, 8C, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered For Christmas” will be the first movie in the franchise, with three more slated for 2015.
“We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with Martha Williamson and to bring her brand of rich and poignant stories to viewers on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries,” said Michelle Vicary, executive vice president, programming and network publicity, Crown Media Family Networks. “At their core, the narratives on ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’ revolve around mystery and suspense, with compelling characters and dramatic storylines that will be enhanced by an extended format.”
“When Bill Abbott and Michelle Vicary asked if I can evolve the ‘Signed Sealed Delivered’ franchise into a series of movies, I was honored to continue the Hallmark tradition of quality family movies,” said series Creator and Executive Producer Martha Williamson. “At the heart of ‘Signed Sealed Delivered’ is Oliver, a modern day gentleman with old world values played brilliantly by Eric Mabius,” she added. “He and his wonderful team of postal detectives will continue to surprise us and sometimes make us laugh as they work to solve mysteries behind letters, even mysteries of life.”
Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will introduce viewers to the “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” franchise by airing a marathon of the series on Saturday, October 11 from 11am – 11pm ET/PT, 10C.
Returning as the “POstables,” Oliver O’Toole (Eric Mabius, “Ugly Betty”), Shane McInerney (Kristin Booth, “Orphan Black”), Rita Haywith (Crystal Lowe, “Smallville”) and Norman Dorman (Geoff Gustafson “Primeval: New World”) will take millions of viewers on new adventures as they uncover the mysteries of lost missives and return them to their intended recipients, profoundly changing lives in the process.
“Signed, Sealed, Delivered” is a comedic drama that follows the lives of a group of postal workers who transform themselves into an untraditional team of detectives to track down intended recipients of undeliverable mail. Their missions take them out of the office into an unpredictable world where redirected letters and packages can save lives, solve crimes, reunite old loves and change futures by arriving late but somehow on time.
“Signed, Sealed, Delivered” is a Muse Entertainment production in association with MoonWater Productions. Executive Producers are Martha Williamson (“Touched by an Angel”), Joel S. Rice (“Cyberbully”) and Michael Prupas (“The Kennedys”). Harvey Kahn (“The Haunting Hour”) is the producer.

ABOUT MARTHA WILLIAMSON
Martha Williamson made television history when her CBS series “Touched By An Angel” set a new standard for an inspirational family drama when it grew to a weekly audience of 25 million viewers during its initial nine year run. As Executive Producer of the ground-breaking series, she was the visionary who guided the series into previously uncharted territory with her unique brand of storytelling that produced more than strong ratings; it changed lives. She went on to seal her place in history when she became the first woman to solely executive produce two one-hours simultaneously with “Promised Land,” which aired for three years on CBS. She began her career in comedy with the producing teams for Carol Burnett and Joan Rivers and went on to write and produce situation comedies such as “The Facts of Life,” “Family Man” and “Jack’s Place” for all the networks before making the transition to one-hour drama. Her work has been inducted into the Television and Radio Hall of Fame and honored with numerous awards, including the Edward R. Murray Responsibility in Television Award, the Templeton Prize Epiphany Award and nine Emmy(R) nominations.
What do you think? Is this a good move? Would you prefer that it continue as a weekly series or are you okay with a series of movies instead?
Love, love, LOVE! Signed, sealed & delivered. Great series. Kept me interested week after week. Please bring it back!!!If I couldn’t watch it I would record it. Please bring it back! Please!
Hi Diane. I couldn’t agree more. However, no one from Hallmark reads these comments, as I understand it. So Debbie Andrews (also a blogger here) started a petition that we can sign, add our comments to, and will then be presented to the people at Hallmark who maybe…if we get enough signatures…will consider reinstating the weekly series. I hope you’ll sign and pass the link on to as many people as possible..

I am so sorry that Signed, Sealed, Delivered is only coming back as movies. It has gotten to the point that we have so few good shows to watch that I no longer watch television. I would rather listen to a good book on tape. Signed, Sealed, Delivered is one of those wonderful shows that touches the heart. The actors work so well together and the stories are wonderful – always with a little different twist. I really miss it. I cannot understand why Hallmark would come away from this type of series and bring The Good Wife (a story… Read more »

Please do not take it off the air and please do the 2 hour movies though the year. I don’t really watch that much tv, but… Read more »

Hi there…
I love ss&d but I didn’t even know, they had cancelled it, until I started to look for the catch ups. I’m disabled and sometimes too poorly to watch my favorite programs.
I’m a bit confused… How many episodes were shown, here in the UK, before the ” signed, sealed, delivered for Christmas was shown.
Many thanks ***
I believe there were about 11 or 12 episodes in 2014, mostly an hour in length except for the pilot episode which was 2 hours. This year, according to the advertisements from Hallmark (I saw several in December 2014) they were going to start with the Signed, Sealed, Delivered for Christmas movie which premiered here in late November, and then the weekly series was supposed resume in January. When it didn’t resume as advertised, I found this site and started blogging. Debbie kindly started a petition which will hopefully send a message to Hallmark that we want the series back,… Read more »
I truly enjoyed the series and looked forward to each episode. Character interaction and development with a continuing under story while «working a case» is preferred over an occasional movie. I really appreciate the clean and moral standing of SS&D. I so want the series back.

I really enjoyed this show and would love to see it air as a weekly series as well as a couple seasonal specials. Such a great cast and well thought out sbow. It deserves a weekly time slot. The Christmas special was touching. Well done Hallmark!
We are trying to get enough signatures on Debbie’s petition to have Hallmark reinstate the weekly series. Please consider signing the petition and maybe someone at Hallmark will listen. I don’t believe anyone from Hallmark reads these comments on this blog.

Love this show! I am so sick of sex & violence on TV! This show is fresh and clean, some people still like that! Keep it on TV however you can!! Prefer weekly, but will take it however I can get it!
No one from Hallmark reads these comments. BUT…Debbie Andrews started a petition (thank you Debbie) to ask Hallmark to bring back the series. Please sign the petition and pass on the information. The more signatures and comments we have to present to Hallmark, the better the chances that they’ll re-instate the series.

I would like both. I like the dynamics of a semi-episodic program.
Hi Ann,
We’ve started a petition to submit to the Hallmark channel to hopefully change their minds about the changes made with this series. Would you be interested in signing it?
Thank you in advance for standing with us in our endeavor,
Debbie Andrews

I’m undecided at the moment. I bought Season 1 because I really liked the show. I thought the Signed, Sealed, Delivered For Christmas movie was wonderful. The scene where Oliver is explaining to Shane that she does indeed have a family with Norman, Rita and Oliver, himself was extremely well written. As was the ending when Shane, Rita, and Norman decide to forego their Christmas plans and return to the Post Office to spent Christmas with Oliver — perfect. That all being said, the thought of only seeing three movies for an entire year is disheartening. Although I’m sure the… Read more »
