TV show description:
This fantasy series follows the adventures of Sinbad, the legendary fictional character.
After Sinbad (Elliot Knight) accidentally kills the son of powerful Lord Akbari (Naveen Andrews), he is forced to flee from his home town of Basra. Thanks to a curse, he’s unable to be on dry land for more than a day so Sinbad travels the world to find a cure.
On board his ship, The Providence, an intriguing band of travelers is thrown together. They include taciturn Norwegian sailor Gunnar, the lithe and agile jewel-thief Rina (Marama Corlett), and haughty and aristocratic Nala (Estella Daniels). Completing the ship’s complement is the odd-ball cook and the cerebral doctor Anwar (Dimitri Leonidas).
While Sinbad sails the high seas, he’s unknowingly being hunted by Lord Akbari who’s determined to exact revenge for his son’s death.
Episode #12 – Land of the Dead
On their way to the Land of the Dead, flashbacks reveal Taryn’s motive in finding the lost city; to recover her daughter Alehna (Evanna Lynch).
The Providence arrives at the land after being caught by a whirlpool. The crew enter an abandoned underground city, where Sinbad discovers the area is patrolled by gigantic Guardians, one of which latches on to him. Meanwhile, Gunnar realises Tiger’s strange behaviour, and manages to separate her and Taryn. He then finds Sinbad and manages to break the Guardian’s hold on him.
However his consciousness is trapped in a limbo-like state, where he encounters his crew mates who have no recollection of him, even Jamil. Taryn manages to send him back to life. She reveals that Sinbad is both alive and dead in the Land, and is the only person who can make his way to the city. The crew find Jamil, and they go into hiding until the Guardians calm down.
Taryn also finds Alehna in a library, who reveals that Sinbad previously went to the land as an infant before his father freed him. As hounds surround the library, Anwar finds a hidden exit. However, to ensure the group’s escape, Jamil sacrifices himself to a Guardian.
At the group feast, Anwar convinces Sinbad to continue. As he says goodbye to his brother, it is revealed that Alehna is possessed by some form of darkness.
First aired: August 3, 2013.
(Note: the show had already been cancelled by Sky before it started on Syfy.)
What do you think? Do you like the Sinbad TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I’m confused about one thing. Wasn’t this show originally made by Sky1 a few years back. Does it really count as being cancelled by Syfy if the people who really created it never made a part 2?
Why cancel such a great show…they really don’t seem to know what the viewers like…all the best shows get cancelled. I really enjoyed it and am so disappointed.
I loved this series as opposed to the violent immoral shows that evidently the general public prefers. Sad to me that the rest of us cannot enjoy an escape from every day reality which seems to be moving every day towards more violence and immorality . Please put in my vote to bring this series back. My husband and I looked forward to this show every week and were ready for the next episode. So upset that we have been cut off. Please let me know if it will continue in the UK and if we will be able to… Read more »
I loved the this series has anyone else notice that it was made in England, and so many shows that are here in the US are so bad. What happen to the writers here in this nation? I bet if Syfy wants to get better rating keep trying to find great shows like Sinbad . Some times its the quality of the show that matters and I really hope Syfy that you keep trying to get back to more shows like this one. I So thought that all those star trek fans would have loved adventure stories of Sinbad but… Read more »
Enjoyed the show. Thought there is plenty of story lines to expand the series a season or two. The SyFi channel should pickup the rights and produce their own series. Sinbad was definitely better than some of the hokie movies they produce or show.

In a world of reality TV dumbing down everything and everyone. NO ONE has the ability to retain info past 10 mins let alone 4 a week. But for the individuals like me that need smart shows or at lest show that change every week. Shows that you need to pay attention. That engage me as the viewer. Shows Like The Walking Dead, Fringe, Game of Thornes, Breaking Bad, And Continuum force the viewer to use that gray thing between thier ears, pushing us forward artistically and culturally. Or i guess we call all sit around watching Jersey Shore reruns,… Read more »
I LUV this show!!!! Would really luv to see more adventures!!!! Please bring it back!!!!
Personally I believe this show was awsome there are not enough fun fantasy shows these days and I believe that with all those stories oof sinbad it would have alot of potential. Could not ask for a better remake well i can. SEASSON 2 please
I really like the show, but the low budget on the clothing is annoying. Shoes didn’t have lug soles and I don’t think shirts had pocket like the ones they have.
My daughter and I both want to see this show continue. It is one of the few shows that we can enjoy watching together.
We like the show, its different.
I loved the show! Sad to see it go so soon… There was so much more to tell.
I really liked this, I grew up with Xena and such so this was right up my alley. I think that they should have continued with a second season, I don’t like cliff hangers. After the ending I was a little disappointed. They could have stretched the story in the first season, it seemed like the plot jumped around a lot. They could have explained more about Sinbad and his family. It just seemed very rushed to get the back stories of everyone else wrapped up but not Taryn or Tiger or even Cook for that matter. Also, I know… Read more »
I loved the show… nothing to do with the fact that Elliott Knight is GORGEOUS!… Anyways, its a great change from all the garbage that’s on TV now. I totally thought there would be a season 2 by the ending of the last episode, I don’t like that they left the story unfinished a season 2 would be greatly appreciated…
Once again a good show gets cancelled. I am a bit shocked Syfy cancelled it so quickly. There are so many BAD shows that go on for seasons and seasons…
